Emission light - Vanos?

I've occasionally had the emissions light come up, usually after a change of fuel or a thrash. Have not been too bothered by it as it's only occasional and soon goes. However, I recently picked up a code reader which shows this:

I read up various threads which suggested this could be dirty vanos solenoid valves. So a coiple of hours ago I removed the two valves and cleaned them up in petrol, let them dry off and then put them back in, but swapped them over, as they're the same component.
I just took the car for a spin and it runs really badly - not picking up from slow speed and stalling when I come to a stop. Eventually the emissions light came on again and I managed to get home. These are the codes it now reads:

WHen the car has cooled down I'll swap them back again, but not sure what this is telling me. Any thoughts?

I'm no expert but it looks like your fault has moved from exhaust to inlet after you swapped them. Although the codes are slightly different they are related can both point to a solenoid fault. Cleaning failed so I think I would clear the codes and replace the original exhaust (now inlet) unit or preferably both?

I swapped them back and it's much better now - as it was before! Cleared the light, so will see if it comes back.

I was hoping to see the fault move from exhaust to inlet, but as I still got the exhaust fault code with the valves swapped, this suggests to me it's not the valve.

Maybe I'll buy a new valve and swap it for the exhaust one - depending on what it costs..
