Embarrassed ..... by the ADSA man

Reading the thread on here about the dual with the R32 ....... lol

My story is really embarrassing - took the Zed out the other day, first sunny day for a while, but it was a wee bit damp and only 2 degs - A73 from Abbington to Carstairs, had the Zed on song, corners were perfect - it was classic - in case you are wondering, I was the man ....... the one with the smile on his face .......
Rear view mirror, spots an Asda van coming up fast, no worries - bit more noise and elagant footwork and I'd be away ...... errrrrrr huh, 75 through a corner and Asda van is velcro'd to the Zeds bumper ...... 10 miles of this stuff, couldn't lose him........
Went home depressed, kicked the cat - shouted at the missus, got drunk ................

The difference is he's probably likely to loose it somewhere and doesn't care less as its not his vehicle, you care about your car and thus were probably not driving the zed anywhere near to its potential on the public road (which to be fair you shouldn't be).

To stop this happening again you need to find a un passable bit of road brake down to 20mph so he looses all his speed drop a gear or two and roar off :D

(probably quite dangerous actually so not really advised)

Edit: Just had a look though your old posts to find you have a 2.0, transit is probably just quicker :poke:

QFE :poke: :poke: :poke: :poke:
Although, you probably should of been able to loose him in the corners....

FWD with weight at the front the transits/ delivery vans are suprisingly quick and composed around corners.

We have a van sales division at work... those delivery vans can take roundabouts are speeds which would even be pushing my Z.

Ford Transits are crazy good. The fact Sabine Schmidt almost lapped the ring in 10mins shows just how much they have to give.

If you think Transhits are quick, you should try a VW Transporter with the bigger engine

Just a shame mine now weighs 2500kg which somewhat dents the performance, but before it was converted it was 1850kg, 130bhp and LOTs of torque. And the 174bhp version is even better...

The Transit is the best handling van ive driven, i use to deliver for Tesco when back at university and although the transit wasnt as fast as the Merc vans it had a twin wheel rear axle and was RWD so would go round corners on rails.

Fasest Van ive driven was the 150bhp Renault Master, shame it was limited to 67mph as it got there pretty quick.

We use to have a VW Trolly van at tesco with a 2.0T petrol engine, that was fun when your only 17 and just passed your test.

With the VWs there's even a few versions with the 2.8 V6 from the VR6 golf, etc. Quite an interesting combination...

Plenty of ones like mine running in excess of 200bhp though from a 2.5 5-cyl TDI. I'm happy taking it easy with my 130bhp though.

Look on the bright side he didnt catch you, http://www.parkers.co.uk/vans/reviews/vauxhall/movano-1999.aspx

Reminds me of the last Hampshire run, we had a transit driver in front of us going through the twisties and some of the chaps in front were having serious trouble keeping up somehow

I thought my Moet was a bit fizzy when it arrived  ....Our youngest has a 2.0 transit, goes like the proverbial of a shiny shovel....No street cred lost i think

Yeah!! I remember  That transit also pulled off an outrageous overtaking manoeuvre on a Landie that was pootling along. :!:
I was leading the procession at this point and was also keeping an eye on the train behind me. Otherwise, I'd have given chase. Of course!! :driving:

The other day I got dropped on the motorway by an Audi A4 2.0tdi. As I came up behind him at about 75 ish, he pulled over into the middle lane, I dropped a cog or 2 and floored it. As I approached license-ban speeds he was gaining a couple of car lengths on me. The torque of a turbo diesel is hard to compete with!! I'm sure my old company car, Volvo V50 D5, had more pull above 60mph than the Zed.

i have a brand new berlingo and it drives like a car and it pretty quick too and on a private motorway will cruise at above 3 figures

You can not beat Turbo Diesels for their overtaking power, especially at higher speeds - on private roads of course (",). I also have an e60 535d (this actually has more torque than an e60 M5!!! (413 lb/ft copmpared to 384 in the M5!!). I've had all sorts of cars trying to pull away/overtake me on the motorway, from 330d's to Impreza's to other chavmobiles like Focus RS's. Nothing has ever come anywhere

+1 for TD torque, my boggo Ford 2.0 TDI gives 240 ft/lbs torque, which I think is more than some of the 3.0 Zed motors...... and my granddad’s lorry had several hundred torques but I can’t say I fancy having a spirited drive and a bit of pub posing in that either.

Oh man this thread is shocking, iv got a sense of pitty for you, driving a bmw sports car and being rinsed by a van delivering shopping.
Go directly to the dealership, do not pass go, hand your keys back in shame.
