Ellipsoids & 108's

Im unsure what to do guys...

I really love my 108's but they all need refurbing, they aren't as bad as some that I have seen but its kinda depressing when I spend so much time looking after my car.

This is where my problem is... I really like the Ellipsoids too.

What kind of price are we talking for second hand good Ellipsoids vs 108's that are in need of a refurb?

I understand that 108's are more expensive to buy in the first place, right?

I'm sure you might find someone on here with ellipsoids that is willing to do a swap, with each of you getting the others refurbed after the swap?

I prefer the ellipsoids.

Ellipsoids! I always thought they were the wheels that were designed specifically for the Z4 - I've been keeping a casual eye out for a set myself, they're not as many around unfortunately as there seem to be 108s.

Good luck!

When I looked for my Z4 only ellipsoids would do for me, nothing else came close.

The problem with the ellipsoids is that they were never standard on anything, just had a quick look in the old brochure, to upgrade the 3.0 was £710 or £1220 for the 2.5. The 108s must be on every 3rd Z4 produced since the facelift, because they were such a cheap upgrade on the Sport models.

The facelift ellipsoids look good too, style 202.

Another Elipsoids fan here.

When I chose my previous Z, the wheels were one of the deciding factors between the 2 I was looking at. Looked great on my black roadster.

What is the difference between the original and facelift Ellipsoids? Didn't know there were different ones!

108s look good but are way too much hassle, I looked at the ellipsoids when I changed, but preferred the 5 spoke design and ended up with the much rarer 203s :D

Ellipsoids are a nice looking wheel though :D

I actually started on Ellipsoids and made the swap the other way. Problem for me is I have a similar style on the X5 and it looks so much better on a 4x4 than what imho looks too heavy a wheel on the Zed.

As Mike says you might be able to find someone to do a swap with you.

The problem I have with the 108's is how they look so small at times.

Though when I bought my car, no other wheels would do. Don't suppose anyone can tempt me with some black roadster Ellipsoid porn :?

When buying a new car with wheel options I always consider the aftermarket questions relating to ownership maintenance. Having had a range of experiences in past years I immediately fell in love with the elipsoids and ordered the car just so. No regrets. God, I remember a set of BBS mesh wheels from years back that looked great when new but keeping them clean frustrated me to the point where I sold the car.

Or something from last summer...

I am biased but I do think they're the best alloy for a black roadster, they are very much the Z4's signiture wheel.

Well, by judging by the amount of Zs at the Breakfast Club Meet that had 108s on them, they still seem to be the popular choice! :poke: All bar 2 i believe, with the exception of the Ms and the Alpina.
That said, the Ellipsoid alloys do look good on Zs in black or grey
