Ellipsoid wheel question

Has anyone ever stripped the paint off and polished Ellipsoid wheels? Anyone happen to have a damaged Ellipsoid wheel laying around they would be willing to part with for the purpose of experimentation? I think there might be potential for that alternative look.

ive stripped them down, but then repainted. i didnt think the metal looked that good when i stripped them, but the chrome ones do look good.

Do you know if they are aluminum? Magnesium? I've done several motorcycle wheels in the past and the results were pretty impressive. It is a multi step process (labor of love kind of thing)to get them looking beautiful but IMHO worth the time. If I could get a hold of a damaged wheel I'd like to give it a try to see if it was a waste of time, or not. You could then prop it up next to the Z to see if it would be a look worth pursuing. I know I like the Ellipsoids on the Z, I'm just not sure "polished Ellipsoids" would be an improvement.
I think I'll put a note on the "buy, sell" list to see what I can come up with. The problem with a polished wheel is it doesn't hold up well through a winter season, but I store mine and for the most part it doesn't even see much rain. There are also products like "ZOOP" that claim to protect polished wheels. I have no experience with that product but I would surely give it a try.
