Electronic handbrake failure

Have an issue with electronic handbrake failure to engage,, have only come across solutions of a BMW software upgrade via BMW..
Is there any known recall regarding this issue or a solution that isn't solely provided by BMW?? Thank you

No and yes

If you find a good indie or become very capable with BMWs old tool set ISTA/INPA you can do it yourself..

I had the same issue, new battery and software update sorted. Mine was done at a local BMW specialist.

These ebrake failures are ridiculous. It needs a few of you that have failures to contact BMW UK and the DVSA safety site and report.
A safety critical item like brake shouldn't fail due software. That is a design fault.
BMW should call back and install new software foc.

My colleagues car, used daily for work, 12k miles on the clock, handbrake failed. For her it was the last straw on her Friday afternoon car.
She had to park on a slopping drive way. OK could leave in gear over night, but had to prop a house brick in front of wheel to get it off the driveway.
She came to work following Tuesday in a Merc.
