Electrics seats

I fitted electric seats in my old E85,and the connecting plugs were aready fitted under the seat, for such an upgrade

Has the E89 the same??

It was only very early E85s that had the full wiring loom for all options, so I doubt your E89 will have the connectors - but hopefully someone can confirm.

Ask Stuart (Bigwinn) on here. He changed some manual seats to electric on an E89 recently. There is a thread about it. Didn't seem very straight forward IIRC (and he is a very clever geezer).

What are you trying to do and what’s the current set up?

Mine are the seats that Stuart changed. I am delighted with the transformation. He did a brilliant job with a bit of help from other forum members,Anubis Z and USEL. But as Andy said it was far from straightforward. No doubt Stuart will explain the complexities of the process. Good luck if you have a go. 👍

Hi
Non electric at present,i'm quite tall and generally the electric allows me a little more room
If its not as simple as the E85 swop over, ill leave as is

I went from heated standard to heated with memory standard (wouldn't have made a difference between standard and sport seats though).
There is new wiring required and then coding. It's not really a big job per se, but can be a pain getting the new wiring in. The coding is only complex if you don't know coding and don't have, or access to, the software.
Saying that though I believe it was a great addition to my car, mainly because my wife is only 5'4" so moving the seat with Memory is awesome :driving:

Other option is fit some cheap aftermarket pads under leather.
I did, not a big job and now wouldn't be without it.
First time i ever had heated seats in a car.

If you like the heated seats then you need to try the heated steering wheel :driving:

Your wife drives your Zed????? :rcard:

You've hit the lotto then... mine just swiped her car against my daughter's car... damaging both.. no Zed privileges if you can't navigate a driveway....

Consider a G29 then, mine reverses itself out of the garage and then drives backwards down the driveway, I just sit there waiting for the bang!.... it's magic :sorcerer:

Whereas I appreciate you're obviously not happy, unfortunately accidents happen, none of us can ever say we've not had a faux pa.
We're looking at selling the Z4 and either replacing it with new Z4 or a late previous model M4 (can't afford a new version), still doesn't matter how much it's worth though I'd still let her drive it. Life's too short to be precious about material things, she's of far more value to me and that's the way it should be. :hattip:

You've got to use it to appreciate it though. Especially in the depths of winter, really nice to grip just after you've cleared the frost off your screens, lovely warm seat and wheel :driving:
