Electrical problem

Hi folks. I have just been out to my zed, unlocked the boot, rummaged around for a second and then closed the lid, then noticed that all 3 brake lights are illuminated. They go off with a turn of the ignition then function normally for driving, but as soon as the ignition is off, on come the lights. Also noticed that the indicators flash once when the ignition is turned off. Has never done this before. To clarify, this is not when the alarm locks/unlocks the doors, this is immediately as the key is turned in the ignition barrel.

I tried searching the forums, Google and the manual but nothing seems to cover this.

Does anyone have any ideas? I will have to disconnect the battery tonight or it will be a non starter in the morning....

Ta muchly for any advice.

That is strange! No idea really, but it's worth checking the brake switch and light connections and perhaps the LCM loom (behind the main light switch). Are you sure your battery is healthy?

:headbang: I disconnected the battery last night in the dark. This morning I re-connected it and examined the health indicator window. Battery low. From what I have read Zeds develop all sorts of strange behaviours when their battery level gets low. Charging now.. Lets see if that helps. The car has only done a few miles in the last couple of months, all at night, so headlamps and heated seats. Maybe it just never got the chance to charge properly. Feel like a bit of a d!ck now..

It's quite common for electrics in the rear of the car to start playing up as they go through rubber grommets near the boot hinges so suffer a lot of movement over the lifetime of a car. It is quite common for looms to break and develop faults here.
