Electrical buzzing on 20i - throttle related - FIXED

Thanks all, I must admit it was a bit of a result getting this fixed and I was expecting more of a battle!

I called to get hold of the bulletin reference today and was told they aren't allowed to give those out however I was told to tell you to book in with your local dealership and mention that there is a PUMA reference for the issue which is to do with the way the fuel line is mounted to the bulkhead. If you hit any issues I'm happy to PM my details so the dealer can look up what was done on my car. I had the work done at Salisbury BMW which is part of the Ridgeway group.

Billy - keep me posted on how you get on!

Thanks, much appreciated! I will keep you posted!

Happy to confirm mine has been fixed and there is a technical bulletin as jwa1 suggested.

I simply described the issue to the dealer and suggested it was the fuel line attached to the bulkhead that was vibrating. They had to order a part (to remount) and all noise is completely gone; all covered under warranty.

I have a funny buzzy noise on my '04 E85 2.5 which manifests itself at various revs, could that be related? :?

Thanks.

Does anyone have a link to this bmw bulletin? Just so I've got the ammunition when I call them up. Thanks

I have had my 2013 2.0 m sport for a month, brought as used approved I have done about 400 miles its been in for new roof micro switches , so I had this buzzing noise as well so thought right lets get it all done while under warranty,
had the car booked in yesterday told them the fault , they rang me late yesterday afternoon couldn't find a problem they had another z4 there and it made the same noise. so I politely told him I work as a site manger and have build 300 houses but if I have 2 houses with leaks it doesn't make it alright.
he then went off to talk to the technician and see if there was a puma reference, 15 minutes later I get a call to say yes there is a bulletin about it and my car qualifies to be done and they have to order a part, so booked in now for next Thursday hopefully this should sort out the buzzing noise.

Its sad that these people even try and treat us customers as idiots!

had the work done on Monday but still have the whining noise, so either they didn't do the work, didn't change the pipe , or the fix hasn't worked , so don't really know what to do now.

just revisited the main stealers took the technician out in the car to listen to the noise and he agreed it needs sorting out, so car is booked in for them to have for four days to get sorted, now he has heard it, hopefully this should get sorted only got to wait a fortnight until they can see it

Did your dealer say why they need your car 4 days? I would seriously question the length of time as its just modifying the fuel line on the bulkhead so it doesn't vibrate?

Tim.

The techie might have a date to impress and there's not a loaner available :D

lol I am hoping it doesn't take 4 days to sort, I think now he has heard it, it will be solved in a day, the technician was the biggest bugger you ever did see and hates driving z4's because he doesn't fit into them, so no worries about using it ! its all being done under warranty so no cost to me which is good only had the car 2 months and about 500 miles, I have had 2 roof sensors replaced and now this glad I brought used approved

Hmmm glad I stumbled upon this thread, sounds exactly like a issue I was describing to Smart Bear at a car meet some time ago.
I mentioned it to BMW bath at last service and was fobbed off that it's just a charactaristic.

I've turned the stereo up, and problem solved. However every now and then when I dont have the stereo on, I think its making that noise again. Its due another service, so I will bring it up with them and mention the puma the bulkhead and fuel line.. and see if they can do anything about it. I wonder how much this fix is when not on warranty?
