Electric water pump and clutch delete valve

Hi,

Should the electric water pump be changed at specific intervals?

Is it a good idea to delete the clutch delete valve?

Thanks in advance.

If the water pump has not been done and your car is over 80k I'd suggest doing it. General consensus is much after 70k and its worth doing preventatively. You should do the thermostat at the same time.

I think you mean the Clutch Delay Valve? But yes, it will make the clutch engagement more linear corresponding to the position of the clutch. Personal opinion but I really disliked mine before removing the CDV...

I like “clutch delete valve” pull the control and it turns into an auto, great

Just to be sure I assume you are referring to a facelift model with the N52 engine when you ask about the electric water pump, as the pre-facelift models had a mechanical one.

If so BMW don't specify a scheduled replacement interval for them but when they die the engine will overheat in less than a mile, so it may depend whether you are willing to live with that possibility!

The pump on my 1st Coupe died after 9 years and 60K miles, but when my 2nd was last on a ramp it seemed to still have the original fitted after 13 years and 90K miles.

As Ed says removal of the CDV is a noticeable improvement.

Early Z4s have a mechanical water pump. Didn’t know that!

Mines an 03 plate, so an early one. Are these an easy replacement does anyone know?
