Electric PS woes

I've got the sticky steering problem with my 03. Did the suggested grease zerk and reclocking of the servo unit. Still awful!
Changed tires to Pilots which stopped the tramlining.
Does anyone have experience with sending the unit to England for rebuild? Or should I just do the hydraulic conversion and be done?

If you're reasonably competent with tools I'd personally go the conversion route. It's not a complex job, just make sure you have all the parts to hand and you'd have it done in a day.

Please persevere with the eccentric ring adjustment before abandoning all hope :) I think some discussions online lead people to believe that only a tiny adjustment is needed (circa 5 mm). I have adjusted a few of these columns now and some need a big old rotation (more like 15 mm). Best bet is to raise and support the front of the car so that the road wheels are off the ground. It gives you a far finer feel for the difference made by your adjustments.

On this note - one car that was brought to me had spent six weeks at a trusted garage and the column was sent away to a column repair specialist, twice, but still felt awful. The column itself was fine, but needed adjusting by someone who knew what to look for.

The EPS isn't amazing, and the hydraulic steering of the Z4M is a major transformation. I wouldn't want to deter you from the conversion, I'm just letting you know that there may still be a solution that you're happy with, and it may only be a one hour spanner twiddle away :)
