Electric Power Steering Question

Hi

Does anyone know, do all Z4's come with electronic power steering, E85/86/89's?

If so, did the known sticky steering apply to all versions?

And a question about roof motors, did they get an uprated motor that was less prone to water ingress?

Just the 03 - 06 had the sticky steering issue, although not all roadsters appear to have been affected

The 06 onwards came with came with 'better' insulation around the motor, however this caused more water to be trapped with in insulation housing

M versions have hydraulic steering. E89s have electric steering, but a completely different design.

I am a 'newbie' to the Z4 having recently purchased an 04 plate, so what's this 'sticky' issue?

The steering is a bit vague at speed in normal mode, but push the sport button and all feels fine to me. :driving:

Hi thepits, that would not be sticky steering. The symptom is the steering feels frozen in place until significant extra force is applied to break it loose. There's plenty of discussion on this if you search around. You issue is probably caused by slightly perished suspension and/or steering bushes.
