Electric Issues after rear impact

Hi All,
I am new to this forum just registered today so not really sure how to go about finding similar topics so that’s why starting a new one.

My BMW z4 2007 2.0i was hit from behind while it was parked, rear light and driver side rear wing was damaged (which insurance company has repaired).
Straight after the impact my remote key stopped working, but central locking works manually, I told this to guy who picked the car for repairs.

Now I have the car back, but remote key is not working and the repair people are claiming its dead battery, both my keys use to work without any problem but both have stopped working, so I don’t think its dead battery because normally you notice this before battery goes complete dead.
On top of that my rear windscreen heater has stopped working, seat belt alarm is not working , ac and other heater button are not working either, so cars get all fogy and I can’t drive it.
I can hear the fan on but no air is coming out of the air vents cold or hot.

Everything was working fine before the accident, but repair company is saying its not accident related.
Even on the day of accident I drove the car and everything was working fine.
I really need some advice and help here, what could be the reason behind this malfunction after rear impact (accident)?

It's gone into "Transport Mode" and needs turning off with diagnostic equipment - Where are you? People will hopefully pop up local to you who can help.

^^^^This. Bang on! Here are the instructions for INPA but it might be a little different now depending on version...

Fire up INPA-
Select the E85 chassis
Click on the first option at the top.

Left window should say
Select E85 V1.10 / IDENT/read-clear error/info memory etc

Select that first bit of text in the right hand side.

so- select E85 chassis, select the text that is in the right hand side as soon as the box appears.

You should see transport mode in there (aka Transportmodus in German)
Transportmodus ausschalten is the one to select.

Failing that. DIS can do it for sure but I'm not certain which menus etc.

Thanks for your reply Mike, I am in Slough near Burnham, any help would be hugely appreciated.
This my first Z4 and I have zero knowledge of cars.

Thanks

Thanks PHOO1, much appericiated, I live in Slough berkshire, is there anyone in this area who can help me???

Failing any members coming forward (and if you are not confident with INPA) just search out a local independent that knows BMW's. They will have it back up and sorted for you in literally 5 minutes at what (should be) very minimal cost.

Just make sure they DELETE transport mode, so it can't come back and don't simply disable it.

There is a popular app called Carly, but I don't know if it can resolve your problem OP.

If it can you may find this thread useful - it highlights the forum members who have it and where they are! http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=97818&p=1490266&hilit=carly#p1490266

Otherwise any BMW specialist should be able to sort it for you in minutes - some details here:- http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=38928

Good luck!

I think scooba Steve is close ISH to you and quite handy with software, unless I have this very wrong in which case apologies

I pass through Slough sometimes for work on the way to Taplow or Maidenhead. I've got Carly but don't think this has a option for anything "Transport Mode" related. Have you managed to get in touch with (link) Scooba_Steve OP? Think he's based Watford way.

Hi thanks for your reply, got in touch with couple of members here who kindly offered to help, but now insurance company has agreed to send the car to BMW specialist, so lets see how it goes, i will keep you posted.

Thanks

I'd agree, it's part of the claim so should be dealt with by THEM and not you. Be interested to hear if this "specialist" gets it going again  keep us posted OP! :)

Total disappointment !!! I was told bmw will carryout a full diagnostic but it turned to be some other company, garage said they are saying its AC relay! When I asked them how an ac relay is affecting defogger on rear windscreen, remote key, parking sensors etc. Their response was we havnt looked for those faults yet.
Now my insurance company is saying I can take it to BMW to get a diagnostic report and then they will compare two reports to see what can be done. I am quite confident that car is in transport mode but I am surprised this garage has absolute no idea what transport mode is.
Apparently they repair hundreds of cars for insurance companies every week.

To be expected! Can't say I'm one bit surprised! Not that it helps you out OP! Hope it gets back on the road all sorted soon :)

Hi Guys car is all sorted, it was a blown fuse, had to pay £180 to BMW. Will try and recover that from insurance.
Anyway thanks for your help guys.
