Electric Hood Issue Z4 E85 Facelift

Hi,

Has anyone had an issue with their hood and windows automatically opening with the ignition switched on ?

I raised the rear boot shelf to stop the roof opening but both windows still open.

ISTA diagnosis below if it makes any sense to anyone.

Thanks

Erase all the codes and see which ones come back, some of these maybe old codes. This will give us a clearer picture of what's going on.

Hi,
My Ancel BM700 scanner came back with these errors for both windows.

Could be that the windows needs resetting but there are no errors with the convertible top module.

I managed to clear the fault code for the passenger window but error reappears for driver window.
Scanner points to an issue with the body control module unit (Part number 6988086)

Both windows still open when unlocking the door with the key.

Roof is currently disabled from opening also with the boot shelf raised.

Firstly. You will get that code if you check it with the door open.
Secondly, as has already been said, probably a GM5 issue

Thanks enuff_zed.

I'll try and source a GM5 module (Preferably uncoded).

People on this forum know more about what is going on than the dealerships !

From recent experience all you need to get is the correct sort. Take yours out and check the label. If it says Star12 Low then you need one of those, if it doesn’t then get one that doesn’t. It should plug in and work. Only things that may differ is if either unit had been coded with any different functions, roof lowering and raising on the key for example

Hi enuff_zed,

I thought I'd check the fuses and noticed that some were mixed up on the bottom row and after realigning the issue with the windows opening with ignition on miraculously disappeared!

The scanner showed the anti-trap error on the driver window (Passenger side was fine).

I then noticed than the one touch driver window movement was not working going up (But was working going down).Passenger side completely works.

This leads me to believe that the driver switch is faulty and is confusing the GM5.

So I have ordered a new switch.

Hope that this could be the problem before entering the GM world (I'm dreading that!)

Remote key and central locking/unlocking is working now.

:)

Just updating you guys that a simple key fob battery replacement solved my problem!
Thanks to everyone for your help and advice (It certainly eliminated some possibilities).

Long live this forum.
