Electric Folding Mirror wont fold back down

I got into the car this morning to come to work, pressed the little button as I always do. The driver side mirror happily folded back down into position. I looked across at the passenger side, ready to reverse out of the drive and it was stuck in the folded up position.

I manually folded it down without too much trouble and drove into work.

When I pulled into my parking space, I pressed my little button and both the mirrors folded up. Another press and only the driver side came back down :headbang:

Has anyone had this? Is there a simple fix? Am I going to have to leave pressing my coveted little button from now on because it is too expensive to fix?

Questions, questions. Please help :(
 
Doesn't seem to help unfortunately.

I can get it to fold back down before it reaches the "finish" folded position so the motor still moves it up and down, but it appears something is stopping it fold down from the fully folded up position.

It's annoying because everytime I stop, I automatically press the button. You try stopping something you have done religiously for 7 years. It is hard :headbang:

Has anybody opened an auto mirror up and seen how the mechanism works? Would a liberal squirt of WD40 do anything?

Any further help would be gratefully received :(
