Electric folding mirror gear set

Good day!

Our driver side (RH) power mirror is unable to fold up/down without external assistance and it has been diagnosed that the gears within the mirror assembly are worn out.

Have checked online and the price of a new mirror assembly is pretty expensive. I am thinking of cannibalising the gear set from another BMW with the same folding mechanism. I would like to know does the E87, E60 and E90 mirrors fold the same way as the E85? These mirrors are 1/3 the price

The only thing I've found is these replacement gear sets for the E46 (don't know if they would fit)http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261293160481?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

If its just the gears that have worn out look on line at a comapny called HPC gears i am sure they will have replacements.
