Eisenmann Intermediates.....

I am about to start sorting my exhaust out on my Z4C which obviously has the 3.0l Si engine...

I am going to begin by getting the Eisenmann Intermediate pipes in their Race format and then sort out the backbox the month after, simply as I cannot stomach shelling out the ridiculous amount for both in one go!

My questions are:

I believe the Eisenmann Intermediate pipes in Race format are straight through pipes?....in conjunction with the OEM backbox will their be a significant increase in sound?

Do the stock intermediate pipes have silencers/cats in them?

By changing the intermediate pipes to the Eisenmann intermediates will there be any issues regarding the emissions test come MOT time?

Also are the Eisenmann pipes a direct/straight swap fit or is some fiddling required?

Not sure about the Eisenmann intermediates, I just have the back box(s). Sounds fantastic! What do you use the car for? I was told by the guys at Eisenmann that the Race system was for track only - not to fit it if I was wanting to do motorway journeys. I went for the Sport - nice volume and really adds to the Z4 experience.

I may have to give M Style a call then for a chat if the Race system is going to be that loud, although as I said I'm only going to be looking at the mid pipes initially so they may not affect the sound that harshly, although they will be taking out both silencers by the looks.

Coming form a straight through decatted 450bhp Hawkeye Impreza though...it can't be anywhere near that level of loudness surely!?

I do a 17 mile commute to work with about 15 of that being motorway...I wouldn't be too bothered about a small bit of drone.

Reference the issue of MOT, a friend had a Griffith 500 with straight through system, sounded magnificent! But emissions were a little off... it's about knowing where to get it tested.

With regard to the timing, if it's anything like the back boxes, you won't know what it's going to sound like after just a month. Mine changed by around 1k miles, but has really settled in now, after about 10k miles. I would be inclined to get it done the other way around, back boxes first.

With regard to the noise, I would love to hear the race system, but personally wouldn't want anything louder than the Sport setup. I have sound clips on my YouTube link, but they're never that accurate - it sounds so much better IMO :D
 
Well I rang M Style today for a quick chat....obviously all I am looking at here are the intermediate pipes...aka the centre/mid pipes of a cat-back system...so there would be no issues come MOT time in a year as obviously the cat is not bypassed or removed.

I've decided to take the plunge and get a set of the Eisenmann Race Intermediates.....£153 delivered which seemed very reasonable considering the make/quality, around a 2 week delivery time.

I'll take some sound/video clips of the standard system before and then with the Intermediate Race pipes on....of course I am still working with the OEM backbox.

If it sounds really good I'll be content, if its still lacking I'll be going for the Eisenmann Backbox or Remus.

Resurrecting this thread as I'm interested in fitting tge eisenmann mid pipes and looking fir feedback on sound, isvthe op still around or anyone else got this setup with standard back box?!

Is this the one? Where abouts in the exhaust does this replace I'm guessing from the primary cats, down to the backbox, so this removes the second day cats, or does it I close secondary cats in the mid pipes? Interested in anyone having done this

Yea that's the part. Not sure if it's a straight forward bolt in job, can't see any flanges, I'm going to call them today for the low down...
 
Well I phoned the company today, good job I did as this does not fit n52 engined cars, only m54.
He also ran a thorough check for any other off the shelf mid pipes and nothing turned up so it looks like a custom job, bummer...
