Eibach Vs M Sport

I suspect I may have a snapped rear spring so will be checking it out this weekend, but my dilemma is this...

For 2 new rear Suplex springs it's around £110. I can get a full set of Eibachs from Germany for £130. Is it worth me binning the sport springs and just going for Eibach all round?

Primarily interested in how they ride and handle, car is used daily and some of the roads aren't exactly well maintained. I can route myself to avoid large speed bumps if necessary!

You can get Suplex all round for £138

I thought Eibach were lower than OEM but suplex were the same.

Eibachs definitely. They don't make the ride that much lower, but it's enough for the car to have a nice look to it. In terms of ride, I can't say I noticed any difference after removing my sport springs and fitting Eibachs.

I have to drive over train tracks, massive speedbumps and pothole filled roads on my works estate every day, so if there's a car that's had a good road test, it's mine

LOL! Doesn't matter what springs you put on to be fair...the E85/86 is always a 'dodge that man hole cover if you can' type of ride.

Heard the seller of the rears is unreliable at best, so I'm basing it off the next cheapest supplier at £55 a spring.

I'm aware it's only a 15mm drop, frankly that is nothing (although I may have to bin the splitter, it already gets caught sometimes on bumps)

Well, balls to it. Checked my springs and one looks very well rusted, but I also measured them and it seems the rear is sitting at 'SE' suspension height. With that in mind, I'm going to pull them out and put in some Eibach I think... will do the front the same day too.

Are you changing the shocks as well?

Watching with interest as I might do mine

Did you use Bilsteins and if do which ones if you don’t mind

New shocks all done last year as they were well worn 14 year old originals

I've currently got suplex SE springs on mine coupled to b4 shocks and previously had eibachs. The SE are definetly a bit comfier but as said above these cars are never going to be comfy and you do still find yourself dodging every bit of unevenness in the road you can. Mind you I tend to do this in all cars I drive, especially anything this sports suspension. To be honest I'm about to go back to the eibachs as the handling is compromised too much for my tastes on SE springs. There's too much roll/lean on cornering and the cars not quite as precise. The reason I'm going back to eibachs and not the original m sports is they as supposed to be more compliant on the smaller bumps etc. I contacted Eibach regarding this and although they wouldnt confirm actual spring rates etc they did confirm their springs are a softer rate to start with raising to roughly match the M sports on the bigger bumps. This obviously seems to account for why they're generally regarded to be better on the smaller bumps. I can't speak from personal experience of the difference between m sport and eibachs as I e never tried the two on the same shocks. If your worried about ground/arch clearance, especially if your running spacers, non standard offset wheels or m spec tyres etc you can increase the clearance back to near m sport levels by using different thickness spring pads. There are posts and info on here about doing this.

Worst case I'll just take the splitter off. In honesty, I expect that, as the rear of the car is higher, its possibly pitching the nose down a bit more than it should be regardless so I expect it'll be fine once level all round.

Splitter is just a couple of screws, so no big job
