Eibach Springs and Lowering the Z4

Hi,

After having my 19" alloy wheels I really want to lower the car. I know that Eibach's are most people first choice so I thought I would go with them unless someone can tempt me with another brand. Now while I'm pretty confident in changing over the rear springs, its the front ones that are worrying me slightly (i.e. not knowing how to do it). I have contacted a few independent garages in my area and they all want around £300 to change the springs. Now that does sound alot to me!!!

Can anyone suggest somewhere in South West London that is good and will change the springs over for me? :D

ive got 19" and decided to fit eibachs, i have had no problems with them. as for fitting, the rears are very easy but the fronts are a little tricky, its not a 300 quid job thats for sure.
 
Well thats what I thought, I almost fell over when people have been saying around a day's labour!!!! Would it be okay for me to fit the rear ones and then go somewhere else to have the fronts fitted. I mean, will it cause any damage to have it higher at the front for a while?

I'd fit the fronts first knowing you can drive home and fit the rears in an hour yourself. Will also look a lot more sensible tipped down to the front.

Would expect a local garage could do the front swap for more like £100.

A lot of Z owners have broken rear springs and haven't noticed for months. So I think the Z will be fine with a lower rear end :)
 
That's a good point! Now all I have to do is find a garage that can do the work under £100. I don't think it will happen being in South West London. Does anyone have any recommendations for good local garages?
 
To have an Eibach pro kit fitted to my 330 cost £150 so yeah £300 is well over the top

This. I can testify that the rears are incredibly easy to do - hey, even I managed it :oops:

The fronts though... It's not hard to remove the struts from the car, but when the damper shaft disappears inside the body of the shock after you've compressed the old spring with spring compressors and removed the top cap, well that kind of stumped us! Took the two struts along to local Kwik Fit (nearest place open at short notice) and £20 cash-in-hand to a friendly mechanic and old springs removed, new springs fitted. Just an option to think about perhaps.
 
Can anyone recommend a local garage in South West London that can fit the springs for me? The only place I can find is MStyle and they aren't exactly local to me (Richmond). Thanks
 
There is a BMW garage in SW16 on Streatham High Rd. corner of Guildersfield rd.

But I prefer to use AUTOBAHN in Camberwell Green tel No. 02077033859 they changed my rear springs, &,

have been servicing my Z4 for the past 3 yrs & Looked after my Z3 for 3yrs before that

Also heard there is a new Garage called BMER in Tooting SW17 Tel No.02086820440
