Eibach fitting

I was at Kwik fit yesterday for a couple of tyres and they asked me into the workshop to point out that the front eibachs were incorrectly fitted. They maintain that the end of the spring (at the base) should butt up against the stop. Now they were fitted a few months back and my memory is sketchy but I thought they were shaped to fit on the rubber pad in only one place, putting the end of the coil up against the rubber stop meant the spring didn't seat properly as the pad is an ovalised shape? I could be wrong...I have been many times before!
Grateful for some feedback, or if someone could have a look at how their spring seats._20190819_071452.JPG

I did mine last week. The springs only fit properly one way due to the weird ellipse shape, and the bottom end of the spring doesn't butt up against the stop, although the top end does.

edit: looks right to me.

I am sure I managed to get mine to fit into the recess on the shock . Not sure if there is a left hand and right hand in the shape of the spring ?

Thanks guys, must admit kwik fit had me worried that I had made a mistake. Your right I remember it being an odd shape at the bottom and it could only fit one way.
That's put my mind at rest....all of you give yourselves a pat on the back!

Davz stay away from the clunk klick guys if I were you what do they know :driving:
Wonder how many things that where ok they put right mechanics yeah ok

I’ve just fitted Eibachs to my 3.0 - it appears that it’s the same part number for the 2.5 (using Larkspeeds Website)

https://www.larkspeed.com/shopper/i/34E10200100122

Part no - E10-20-010-01-22

Hopefully someone else will confirm this....

Note : you can get them cheaper from Germany via eBay for around £150

Thanks for that , maybe theres a different part number if you have m sport shocks.
Was thinking of fitting these with new Sachs shocks so like for like but prefer a slightly lower look.

My spring has 112001001VA printed on it like you mention but the actual kit part number is E10-20-010-01-22

Think Mr Kwik Fit could well be right and a few may have to refit springs, as they do fit in the lower edge and need to, to get the ride height correct also. This is mine just now .

Just been in the loft and pulled another set of Eibach springs out ( dont ask  ) and both sides are identical in spring curve and how they end, not opposite, shaped as I thought, so you will have to tension the spring and turn it around to get it to fit in the spot. I remember it being a fiddle to get right , but other than taking the strut out , which is only 3 nuts and one bolt , shouldnt be too long winded to do

3rd comment suggesting OP's spring placement is wrong, so I thought I would find one of the photos I took while doing mine to show you that the spring does not need to butt up against the lower rubber stop. Just so you know that's the strut assembly once taken out of the car, so all parts OEM and as put together by BMW.

Which, to my enquiring mind, begs the question; why is the lower rubber stop shaped that way then, if the spring doesn't butt up against it?

While I admit all my experience is a bit out of date, on every one of the 30+ Capris I owned, the spring always fitted up snugly against the shaped cup, both top and bottom, which prevented any rotation.

I am not saying you are wrong, just seeking to further my knowledge.

My first thought is mass market. That shock is probably used with different springs in other cars - or even more likely that lower spring seat is used in many different shocks... A car with a longer spring pitch will manage to have the bottom follow the weird shape and butt up against the rubber stop.
