Quick question just out of curiosity.
What does this abbreviation stand for in relation to a car, in particular hire cars.

Pretty sure the EST is Estate but not so certain about the first letter?

Given current fuel prices I suspect MAN means Mortgage Application Necessary.

A,B,C,D,E,F etc will be the car grade. EST for estate. Nothing to do with Diesel/Electric.

I dread to think what an 'A' is then. Honda Melody or chicken chaser?

Or is it one of those really clever marketing strategies where it starts at 'C' to give you that perception of quality? Or advertise an 'A' grade at £20 a day but don't actually have them?

MacDonald's started it with the smallest portion being a 'medium' years ago. Always enjoyed asking for a 'small Coke' and getting the standard response of "it's a medium and MacDonald's cola, is that OK?"

Abbreviations can be a nightmare.

I worked for an organisation that even in the same building there was a three letter acronym. “ PRF “ To us in the Engineering side it was a Plug, Representing Fuze
(Yes fuze with a Z)
To the commercials /inky fingers it was a Purchase Requisition Form
