EcuWorx remap for Z4M

Yeah, I'm still developing and testing on my own car daily.

I've been developing an AlphaN tune alongside the MAF based tune using one of my IAT bungs, meaning I can switch between a MAF based and MAFless setup in a few mins.

I've also developed a plug and play loom for the MaxxECU standalone ECU & the Z4M, it utilises the factory widebands, I also cracked the EKPM canbus so it will happily run the fuel pump via CANBUS, the only modifications required are an external oil temp/pressure sensor and the use of smart coils rather than the stock one.

It looks pretty crude but works.

Running the standalone allows me to test vanos changes instantly without having to worry about logging/flashing/logging/flashing etc. It also means I can switch back to the MSS70 very quickly when needed.

And an a prototype enclosure to protect the wiring. I need to refine this to ensure it fits in place of the original MSS70.

Quick video of it running via the MaxxECU.

 I remeber some French guys who had been running an Aim infinity 8 but not sure where that went to. I guess the benefits are similar...? flat shift, launch, traction, lots of tuning options etc? Very interesting.

I'd love to try your alpha-n on my car when it's ready, I remember you saying there was a lot of timing being pulled on mine.

Any time line for the standard ecu tool release?
Cheers

I have a PNP Infinity that I ran on my E46 M3 but obviously the ECU plugs are different. I may create a patch harness for that too.

Benifits of the standalone, specifically the Maxx are that it will happily control the E9x DCT trans. It also means you get the additional features like you mentioned.

I think there is plenty left on the table for your car Tom.

No release date yet, I want to get everything nailed before I automate the changes in software.

In the words of the Project Farm guy on YouTube - Very Impressive!

Looking forward to the tool when it is finally released

Just been out to test overrun pops/burbles, enabled via the sport button. Not my cup of tea, but it's always something people ask me for!

Would that feature work with an Alpha N map on the OE ECU?

Sure would, providing the ECU is not locked, the testing i've done is using the stock ECU and my own AlphaN tune.

I'd also recommend decats for the overrun unless you don't mind your cats taking a beating lol.

You can read/write to the ECU using MSS70 Quickflash. A tune flash takes 60 secs, which is alot faster than the Kess V2 clones!

Continued testing my AlphaN tune, but switched over to a GSR box. As some of you know the boxes are made to fit the E46 M3 and not the Z4M so the snorkle piece doesn't fit.

I initially hacked the snorkle up a bit to give it the clearance but decided a better solution would be to design and 3d print my own version.

Hoping to get some dyno time soon so I can finalise the tuning side.

How are you getting on with the 3d printed inlet - looks a neat solution?

On the cut down GSR snorkel, do you think it would be feasible to connect the stub to the air inlet ducting on the Z4m, that way providing a sealed route to outside fresh air, and with an RPI ram air inlet should work well?

It's been working fine with no issues.

Even with the snorkle trimmed to fit it's not aligned with the inlet hole so 'joining' them isn't possible unfortunately.

Martyn - would you consider printing another of the adapted snorkel, or share the 3d file so I could get one printed, as it looks a neat solution?

cheers

Love to see it!

Q: I can't see it on the screenshot, will it be possible to enable shift lights (like e46m3 smg)?
