Eccentric Shaft Sensor

Diagnostic test is showing that the "eccentric shaft sensor" is faulty on my 2007 2.0lt. Given the cost of replacement I'm tempted to just disconnect it as it doesn't seem to have any effect on the car at all! Anybody got any experience?

Bmw won’t have fitted this sensor for fun, it’s to enable correct operation of the valvetronic system.
If yours is making no difference disconnected it’s because your sensor isn’t working :?

How much are the sensors?

I have one for a 2.0 for sale

Hold on a minute...

If you disconnect this sensor, I seem to recall the car dying... Or at least it does on an N52...
