eBay suspended account. (Edit: now terminated account) :/

Anyone had their account suspended by eBay before?

Got an email yesterday advising that they had suspended my account due to selling fake, replica or counterfeit items.
Bizarre as everything I had up for sale were genuine items.
They included some NOS blank audio tapes, a collectible Sony Walkman with the box, ppaperwork and even the original bill of sale from a Sony shop and some self-built audio cables which form the bulk of my sales.
I also had a 100% seller rating with no returns or negative reviews.

Seems a bit unfair that eBay can take 10% comission on your sales for umpteen years and then just arbitrarily suspend or wipe out your account and delete all your pending auctions in one fell swoop!

I have sent an email off asking for reinstation and suppose I have to sit back until they decide.
Anyone else been through this?

Can you ask for a example of which if your sales have caused a infringement
Yes, have asked for clarification.
I suspect some bot working for Sony, looking for copyright imagery or the brand logo has flagged something to ebay and ebay has gone all paranoid android about it. Have no idea atm.
Just have to wait for a response I suppose....
meh

The ‘D’ in Chris D stands for dodgy then....? :?

Touch....é, sir!
:P

maybe try something completely left field like phoning them up, speaking to an actual person and finding out why  its a bonkers idea i know but just maybe someone who actually y'know.. works at ebay, may have abetter idea than those at z4 forum :poke:

No option for live chat or phoning a 'real' person with ebay.nl unfortunately.

I had this once Chris, I sold an item before it ended and they didn't like it. I was suspended for 1 week
There used to be live chat, but seems to have finished now, did you try the resolution centre.

I can't delete watched items from my account at the moment.

That does seem like big brother being a bully boy. Judge and jury from one source is never very fair. Hope you get it sorted quick.

So I got a response. And we're breaking up. Not even being kicked into the 'friend-zone' or any chance of getting back together to consider our future.
I haven't felt this dejected since Paula Mack dumped me for Alan Jackson in 4th year juniors.

I still don't understand what I did wrong. I'm just left to assume that I obviously contravened one of their endless and vague policies buried somewhere deep in their T&C's. What a shame. No double-secret probation, no re-education or re-habilitation. Just summarily executed and thrown in a shallow grave.

Hello Chris,

Thank you for contacting eBay regarding your account suspension. My name is Uday and I’ll be glad to assist you further.
We’ve thoroughly investigated your account behavior and would like to share that your account was suspended as it exhibits risk to eBay and to its community.

To ensure the safety of the eBay community, we may suspend certain accounts based on their account activities. We carefully weigh the risks involved with allowing users on our site. We found your account to pose risk that no longer justifies a continuing relationship with eBay. Therefore, we have determined that it is in our mutual best interest to part ways.

This decision includes all accounts that you use on the site. Any and all accounts that are used to circumvent our decision will also result in suspension. Please note that we never encourage customers to open a new account to avoid the restrictions because when you open new accounts, they can also be suspended or restricted.

For your account, there is no appeal for this decision. I understand you would like to continue to purchase on our site but from this point forward, in order to conduct business on the internet, you'll have to find a different platform.

We highly appreciate your co-operation and understanding in this matter.

What a big steaming bucket of donkeysh!t.

The only possible explanation I can come up with is that I've been using Nakamichi-branded cable connectors on the custom-made interconnects I've been selling there. These are legit items and were bought in bulk from a large and legit e-tailer based in Germany. I used a couple of photos where the 'Nakamichi' logo is shown on the connector so maybe this has triggered some Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) bot somewhere in their armory and the system has red-flagged me 'Terminate him nauwwww!'

This is one of the photos:

It seems very arbitrary and unfair and I've been given no clear explanation and made to feel like I've done something wrong and now I'm being penalised for it with no chance of re-instatement.
Oh well. First world problem I suppose.

OMG, don't know if I should associate with you Chris, are you really a dodgy dealer :P
Can't you just open a new account under another name

Bad news that they wont be specific about what they are accusing you of and not giving you the opportunity to change your dodgy ways.
