Ok just ranting because my sideskirts I posted on here a while ago sold for frigin pennies. Seriously they went for £16 for both of them! lol! Personally i'm not all that mad and if it was any of you who bid on them and won them then you got yourself a real bargain! Just sometimes dislike attempting a 99p bid for a free listing... suppose thats what the reserve price and buy it now prices are for! Oh well! Better luck next time! :D

Wow that's cheap !!!!! Wish I'd have bid on them for spares! Lol

Buying & selling through ebay is a gamble . That's why its so successful .
Whenever i go for something my bid is always placed on 10/11 seconds to go 8)
Whenever i sell i always add on the end of my advert "any questions on item or price please text ,call or email " this tends to produce prior contact where a agreeable price can be negotiated before withdrawing item & then no ebay selling fees
I also do my best to avoid paypal as they are robbing b4$tards :o

Why no starting price, reserve or even a buy now? Surely listings without invite such prices if few buyers compete.

I always do buy it now nowadays for this reason. You could add a brand new rolls Royce and some cheeky begger will expect it for £50!!!!

Set the buy it now price to the figure you actually want for the item, including fees etc.

eBay is a ripp off, but opens up to more customers.

Not sure why Ebay per se is a rip-off. I've done hundreds of transactions with near zero issues. You just have to take car as with any sort of purchase.

Picked up a Ford Ka radio/CD yesterday for my daughter for £25 plus P&P. Alternative was Ford at £400, trawling around breakers or some sort of expensive upgrade and associated converters.

why does ebay suck?

Surely its down to the fact that what you were trying to sell wasn't popular, hence the low sale price?

i like ebay., and i always start at 99p with no reserve, people get into the spirit of bidding and they sell, I almost never bid on an item that people put their "buy it now" price on, they usually put a retail with warranty price up there.

Yep, ebay doesn't 'suck' (arg Americanisms). You have options to ensure you don't get less than what you're happy with. Don't get angry with eBay if it was you that didn't set a minimum figure! :)

Whenever I sell something on eBay I check what similar items go for. Gives an idea what to expect.

I've no issues with eBay, it does what it says on the tin. Frustrating to pay all the fees (espec if Paypal is in the transaction also) but then what are the other options. It's opened a whole new world of selling unwanted stuff/ crap.

It's the sellers fees that are a ripp off, I wasn't commenting on getting bargains.

They take a lot of percentage and then if things go wrong they side with the buyer. Ok, that's just my experience and may not be everyone's experience but several people I know have had similar experiences.

I still sell on it though as I know the costs. I don't do auction and but it now, just buy it now and set the price at what I want for it....yes, I want to sell it, but not give it away!

Let's just say if you run an online retail business as my other half does you'd be pulling your hair out with Paypal. Absolutely incompetent with appalling customer service. Who are they owned by.....?

I do the same but at least they always email back within a week with an answer to a completely different question that you asked. Seriously though without it we wouldn't be as successful as we are. It has its plus points.

eBay and Paypal have lost a lot of trust from their userbase. I've had really port customer service from PayPal and Tom nearly ran aground selling his camera. Not good really, and little to no competition.

That's my view too Stuart. They are big, complacent and don't give a damn about their customers. Ripe for a big fall I reckon.
