Why are there so many E89 bumpers for sale on ebay? Either there are alot of E89 collisions going on, or there are alot of cars driving around with bumpers
I have bought an M Sport one for mine, £150, will have to get it repainted and new grills etc, should work out to about £600 all in all, so not cheap, but worth it for the look I want, and then going to shadow chrome my 326 wheels too....
I suggest it is because E89's are new so at every minor tap under insurance claim they stick on a new bumper and the bodyshop sells on the older one direct or via a little technicians earner. E85's are older so owners repair them and don't shell out for a new bumper.
Same reason you see lots of headlights for newer cars on ebay with a broken lug, but far less older ones as they just get repaired.
I would also suggest that they are really weak and have to be replaced at the slightest touch, the incident where a lorry rolled into the back of me, the impact was so slight that I only just felt it, however it pushed the bumper inwards such that the the rear fixing brackets creased the bumper on both sides, though the paint was hardy scratched..... beware......
that reminds me i bought one a few months back as i thought i would be buying a used e89 without the m sport kit on it..... so need to sell mine which is lying about still..... cost me almost £200 with the grills back in december :?
I can confrim the bumper is soft, I touched the corner of a wall, and put a big dent in it, the BMW bodyshop did repair it however, how hard is fitting of a new front bumper, with headlight washers etc, I would consider a upgrade
