I had used a snipe too. But used a free one which makes the bid 7secs before the end. The winner’s bid came in after mine was the same number of pounds as mine but one penny more. Just the luck of the draw. He may have used a more sophisticated snipe and possibly paid for the service.Argyll Andy said:IRD said:Just missed winning a watch I wanted on EBay. Possibly beaten by a snipe, their max bid could be £50 more than yours but it only bids enough to beat the highest winning bid up to their maximum. If it was only a penny it was definitely placed in some way before your last bid as the increments aren’t as low as a penny apart from opening bids.
Buggar you lost out
You can't realy moan that someone used a better system than yours to grab a bargain. :wink:IRD said:I had used a snipe too. But used a free one which makes the bid 7secs before the end. It all happened so quickly at the end of the sale. There were six bidders and for a brief moment in the last seven seconds my bid was the best. Then when it closed I got a message from Auction Stealer that I had been outbid by a penny.DevonPaul said:IRD said:I had used a snipe too. Can it do that? - I thought later bids had to be a minimum amount higher than the existing highest bid or they are rejected, and that amount is usually a lot more than a penny. I do tend to use odd numbers when bidding, I won a ride on mower by 58p once.
