eBay front drop links

Hi all
About 6 months ago I purchased some front drop links for my 3.0i off eBay,can't remember the price but think they were cheap based on what price they are now.
Yesterday had an inspection of the car and the seals seemed to have perished?
Would this be expected and effect the drivability of the vehicle? Like I said they have only been on 6 months, would expect them to last longer

Cheers

Sorry no pics
No they weren't OEM.just £11 for the pair I think.

The rubber boot has lifted on both so I presume all sorts of Debris may enter the bush.

Not overly familiar how they work but I presume the rubber boot is on there for a reason.

What effects on the car will I see if they need replacing

Yes, the movement afforded by the rubber is important to the function - it's really difficult to say how impaired the handling will be... but I would be inclined to replace them with OE parts, which I would expect to last a little longer.

On a previous car I owned it was bloody awful to drive when one went, but that was a front wheel drive Vauxhall.

That's the problem with cheap aftermarket parts, not eBay per se. I purchased Meyle HD off eBay and they are better than OEM and lasting well.

You don't need to change them immediately as all the rubber gaiter does is keep dirt and water out. They will just wear out the inner bush much quicker. Even if they totally fail the car just rolls around a lot, but you'd fail an mot way before then.

I'd plan on buying Meyle HD or OEM and replacing when you have time. Not difficult - only 4 nuts.
