EBAY: BMW OEM 108 Split Rimms - REDUCED - £125 ono

Ok, sorry for (further) spoiling what is (or was) a sales thread, but just gotten off the phone with City Powdercoating, and he's said he will do my 108's for.....

£20 a wheel!

Or £30 a wheel to include removing and refitting/balancing tyres, both on a 3-5 day basis, or £40 per corner SAME DAY...

Looks like I'll be taking the wife shopping to Birmingham next weekend!

Horses mouth and all that...

Mike

Fair do's here to mr G , if they are splitting 108s & returning them as your pic then its hands in the air time from me

£125 ONO for a set of 108's - how these haven't sold is unbelievable. They'll be worth close to that money getting them weighed in at a metal recyclers! GLWTS - and for those who can't be arsed reading 3 pages, the OP is selling a set of 108's for £125 ONO! BARGAIN

I usually drop mine off before they close 1pm on Saturday then collect the following Saturday as im at work mon-fri. £40 same day service is great like you say drop the car off go eating/shopping etc. You couldn't get any closer to the city centre either the place is behind the bullring market. There's 2 buildings on the same road its literally at the back off the markets. One where you drop the wheels/car off and a show unit separate where all the finished ones are lined up and demo colours on the wall etc. All the techno purples and reds do look good. Cant go wrong with a glitter finish silver or satin grey from my experience. one thing they don't do is coat the bolts to get the wheels A1 you would need new ones I looked into this and there quite pricey almost as much as the refurb so I just left the old ones in. I've seen some refurbers just coat the whole face which spoils the 108's. Being BBS rims they really do come up nice like new alloys. I had all silver set of 108's and another set done silver rim with black spokes these were my favourite and looked twice as expensive finish in my opinion. Id probably try silver rim satin grey, techno violet or red spokes next time if refurbing another set of 108's.

its really ok I had the same assumptions too prior to using them id heard about them but always disregarded them over the price thinking they was some del boys who probably just spray the fronts with a rattle can. My mate is getting his MV2 alloys done there next week so I will try and get more recent pics if I can

Not sure how any wheel could be returned to a high standard in less than a day. My108s are in for refurb at the moment and the process takes 4 to 5 days to complete. They have to remove your tyres from the rims, split the rims then blast them, then powder coat primer is applied. Once cured the 2 to 3 coats of wet paint is applied and once hardened the wheels are finally re-assembled, the tyres refitted with new valves and balancing prior to re-fitting to the car. The combination of labour effort and curing/drying times means that a good quality job cannot practically be done in less than a few days. If you are being charged less than £80 per corner for 108s there is a good chance the job will not be the best.

I will agree I didn't know they had started a 1 day service until this thread so can't quote the finish on them but have had many sets done before on longer time scale pics are above to prove why is it such an issue with people. So you honestly think a company builds reputation on doing bad jobs but is over run with work....come one dude have a think about it they would be out of business in 6 months

If you missed reading the thread I will repeat. This is a massive city called Birmingham not some village where you local guy can charge silly money as you have no other option but to use them. how about just admitting in a city there are many people trying to make a living so will undercut one another in the trade. Suppose you would rather go to one of these so called alloy refurbishment specialist and be charged more........ :headbang:

Whilst this topic is moving course, my Alloys are not shifting if the current state.

Do you think it is advisable to get them repaired first and then relist?

Cheers

Well up here in the little rural hamlets of Newcastle and Sunderland if you ask for a wheel refurb for £20 a corner the local guys will indeed laugh you out of their barns!

I think it's worth a trip to this vast metropolis of which you speak next time as even with an overnight stay with beer and curry it seems I would still be quids in!

If that company in Birmingham mentioned above can really do a quality same day refurb job on them for only £40 a corner then it's worth your while having a day out. If you add the £160 to your £125 current asking price you will be selling an as new set of 108s for £285. Surely they would sell quickly at that price? You could even ask a bit more for them and cover your petrol.

If they dont go by the end of the month then i will no choice. I didn't want to use this as a money making exercise, and to be honest could do without trialing to brum. i thought selling them in the condition would allow the buyer choose how they wanted them refrubed.

I fear the discussion between refurb methods have taken over this sale

I d have thought that with all the hype on these cheap refurbs there must be someone who looking at getting a set of BBS 108s plus refurb for approx £200 as Mcdade wants £125 and refurbs are £20 per wheel. Though I'd guess you need to split them yourself. After all if Mcdade refurbs them , then whoever buys them won't have a choice of colour.

:)
