EBAY: BMW OEM 108 Split Rimms - REDUCED - £125 ono

Forums and every ones got their expert advice, its negative comments from people like this why I stayed away from this alloy refurber for so long and went elsewhere paying a lot more. It wasn't until may mate paid £400 for some alloy specialist to do a 3 stage German paint process. A few months later they needed repainting as he kerbed 2 of them so he went to City Powder Coaters in Birmingham. Id heard of them for years but for £20 per wheel it just didn't seem right when most others were £60+ per wheel. So I let my friend go first as you do. We compared the other two done at the other place and there was no difference at all. Since then I must of had at least 4 sets done there. I even go there when I get brand new alloys so they can fit my tyres as there used to refitting them after being painted. So can do them easy without damage so is one of the places I trust. I remember having some polished faced M3 alloys years ago they go all milky where the water attacks them. Every alloy wheel specialist told me £100 per wheel its a hard job etc blah blah. I found local metal fabrications firm in the black country that did all 4 for £150.

I think the common mistake people make is they see "ALLOY SPECIALIST" which they think they must do a better job warranting paying more

Anyway to settle this I will dig out my old laptop later when I get in and get the pictures off it. I think you will be in for a shock I like my cars I like my wheels. I really wouldn't go back somewhere who did a poor quality job

As for the guy with the 108's fro sale hold on to them don't let them go stupid cheap don't listen to people they aint got a clue. These 108's are genuine BBS alloys since when do they sell so cheap even in poor condition their BBS ALLOYS not cheap alloys or even standard bmw alloys. Refurbed ones sell for above £500+ I know because that's how much I sold mine for without tyres too. I had mine done silver with black spokes. Those in that picture above don't even look a good colour grey are they supposed to be gun metal grey.....they look odd colour grey to me

clearly says they strip, shot blast, repair then paint...........

Prices vary from £35-90 a corner +VAT; and that depends on what type of alloy they are i.e split rims, diamond, tungsten, magnesium, spokey buggers; the size; and the finish you want. I've never had mine filled - they either get stripped back or ground back

Have you actually seen tungsten wheels?? I'm not digging, just genuinely interested as its one of the heaviest, most dense metals in the world!

Thanks very much for taking the time to put this together.

If these dont sell this week, i may save the hassle and get them refurb'd myself!

Cheers

If some companies charge as little as £20 a wheel and others carge up to £100, seems to me that those being charged £100 might be being ripped off.

From reading other threads it appears to be a mind field. I myself have had quotes ranging from £20 to £150 per cornering

It's one of the main reasons I'm selling in this condition.

I don't care if you are using street kids from Brazil to do the work there's no way any company is splitting a style 108 , refurbing both parts then bolting back up for £20 a wheel , just not happening & as ive mentioned already please upload some before & after pics along with contact details of the company anyone has had some done

Before and after phots would be good. I speak from a position of ignorance as I've never had my wheels refurbed. Hence my use of 'assume' and 'might'.

People aren't even comparing like with like. The £20 deal is for bare rims so you have to take the wheels and tyres off yourself, it's also just for 'standard' colours and doesn't include split rims. Add on taking the wheels and tyres off and it's £45 per wheel, still not including extra for split rims.

mr wilks with all respect I love my alloys id not go back to a place who didn't do a good job. I'm not sure where your from but in Birmingham there must be a hundred firms doing refurbed wheels here. It's really not a poor quality job just the fact they are cornering the market and taking all the local business which is a smart move as they used to just be a normal powder coaters for gates when they realised the demand the switched to just doing alloys. Saying there not stripped down or painted good is not fair and misleading others. I haven't had a chance but if I remember tonight I will dig out my old laptop with pics on there. I know it must piss others off paying more but really this company is in the link I posted before. It clearly says they strip & repair wheel before painting. Do you really think lads in bham would stand for half decent jobs imagine the hassle and bad rep they would get. It's not some village or town with one shop everyone goes to and has no other option but to pay £300. I think you just under estimate how much money they are making firm employs at least 6 or more staff al work is done between their two units their not sent away like many of these alloy specialist. Like I said before I think people see the words alloy specialist and think a better job is done so pay more. The clue is in the firms title their called city powder coaters not we'll paint your wheels and call ourselves specialist to charge more.

as said by the last post the price is £20 only if you take the whhels in ready if the tyres are on its £30 per wheel and for the new colours like bronze, copper, reds, blue, purple etc its £30+

@Goldbfc , you're missing the point completely so i'l spell it out simply
This post & discussion revolved around BBS 108s which are split rims , you then threw up a firm that refurbs alloys & suggest £20 a wheel :?
Now I haven't once suggested the finish must be cack , substandard or that they don't prep the wheels properly :? they most likely do a decent job but you should make it clear to all reading that they won't be splitting apart refurbing & rebolting a style 108 for £20 a wheel

Surprised you haven't had these you've done a few sets before

Nice to see sonny still being utterly utterly annoying in yet another persons for sale thread
Why don't you go somewhere with your obsession with these 224s from Germany?

Like another forum perhaps?
As I've have my 224s Refurbed and my maserati ones and several pairs before and they come back in A1 condition and only ever charged by the size

224s

Maserati wheels.
So I'm. Sorry but utter tosh

Why am I going to say that when that's exactly what they do why are you presuming they don't imagine the amount of disgruntled customer they would face this is Birmingham not some small town or village where there's less companies to use.

This is my point I HAVE I HAD THEM 108's SPLIT AND REFURBED by this company which is why im pissing my self laughing when someone claims there not done right beacuse they paid more. This guy must think they just spray the whole wheel as one and cover over the bolts which I have seen done before on poor refurbs of 108's. Anyway I kept forgetting to dig out my old laptop with more pictures but heres an old thread with some of the ones id had done here.......

I think someone needs to eat humble pie or just shut up telling people how a company refurbs when they haven't even used them to give any negative feedback

good job we have forums to discuss things like this
