Ebay advice needed

So I thought I would update you on the situ!

PayPal went in favour of me!!! And returned my account to normal status. WOOOO! There are good people in this world! Absolutely over the moon! Although I did think I would loose this one!

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and support means a lot! Great you can turn to the Z forum in an hour of need and so many people help and sympathise. Without your help the outcome would have probably be different so thank you!

Tom

Great result, as I said they are actually clamping down on rogue buying behaviour like this, if the seller has a good record and done all the right things there is a chance as you found

Very good news,a big relief to get the decision going your way.
They should ban scanners like this from eBay.

They emailed me a few days ago saying that they needed more info from the buyer, then received this email from paypal yesterday -

Dear tom scott,

We have concluded our investigation and have decided in your favour. Any
funds that may have been temporarily held have been returned to your

Fantastic! I guess the evidence showed that the camera worked upon receipt rather than being dead on arrival. Just because buyers have so many days to open a case doesn't mean the item is guaranteed by the seller during this period. That period is to allow buyers and sellers to resolve issues between themseves without involving PayPal.

I guess it's unreasonable for a buyer to receive an item and then wait a couple of weeks before deciding it's not as described.

Nice one!

Pleased for you. They have had a lot of flak for just siding with buyers as strategically it's these rather than the sellers they need to keep the happiest to keep using eBay.

Glad a scammer got their come uppance...

Not necessarily a scammer.

Put yourself in their shoes. I know I'd be bloody livid if I'd spent that much on something and it developed a fault after a couple of weeks. Could be just a case of unfortunate circumstances and the buyer just trying to recoup a loss. Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that.

Or they could have dropped it taken it out in the rain and broken it then been dishonest and tried to get their money back. The camera only had 10k shots on it. So it would have left me with a broken camera and -£610.

Tiny number of feedback & they went straight to EBay to complain rather first have a dialogue ... given how well Tom takes care of his kit & was a brand name, Scammer in my book

Well I guess you'll never know but at least proper application of the rules has prevailed and you are not out of pocket. Result!

If the buyer was totally dishonest they would have probably tried to argue it was faulty from day 1 and that they didn't get a chance to try it until a couple of weeks later. If they'd done that the PayPal case may not have been as straightforward.

It's nice when common sense, decency and ethics come through for you.

I like to think that most people are decent and honest deep down and it makes me sad when sometimes I'm proven wrong.
