Easy way to tell if car has xenon lights

Look at the lenses and Xenons have a very bulbous lens to focus the beam
They flicker for a second or two when switched on as they 'strike'
Stickers under the hood warn of high voltage

---and you can see where you're driving at night :)

That should do

and in most countries, washers on the bumper required and no headlight levelers in the car

Xenon have washers and when you turn them on they swing the beam up to level, also noticeably brighter than halogen lamps and take a few seconds to warm up.

Interesting - on our side of the pond headlight washers are an option and not required for xenons.

I have xenons and the only option I didn't order on my car was the headlight wizzers.

Good choice! .....
I pulled the fuse on mine.
I hated them pissing all over a fresh detailing.
Mine are never dirty anyway.

I have xenons and no washer here in the UK so perhaps just an option here too and not standard!

Tell me more about your Zed.... Are these factory fit Xenon or some aftermarket change, previous owner upgrade, etc.

Uk requirement is that if you have Xenon then you have headlight wash units and the self levelling system fitted. The current brochure specifies this too.

Thats a good idea! Ive quit using my windshield washer due to the headlight wash thing, The first time I drove the M home from the dealer I wondered where the water spray was coming from, then I remembered those bloody washers!

Getting a tad bit technical here for just a moment,
Does it wash the headlights everytime you push the windshield washer?
and theres a fuse for it specifically behind the glove box right?

mmm, mine does not have xenons but does have have washers and the light does "raise" when I turn them on.... so, that does not necessarily mean you have them.

Mine is the same as sp3ctre's. Think it's true that the xenon's don't have the internal levelling switches... but i may be wrong of course....

my 03 does not have xenons but they do raise to level and it also has headlight wash and they are bulbous looking lights too well the outside ones but its normal h4 bulbs thats in them...... think the only way would be to see when you switched them on as they flicker and have to heat up and the high voltage warnings under the bonnet as all the other things stated earlyer seem to apply to non xenon and xenon also if you get my drift!!!

Sp3ctre and gannet - you have to be careful not to confuse apples and pears (or is that halogen and Xenon) All models have headlights that use internal motors to set the level when switching on the lights only Xenons have a full suspension linked system to detect movement in the car and adjust the beam to prevent dazzle. Washers can be specified as and option so are not a good indicator.

by internal levelling switches I meant the manual ones on the dashboard that you can do yourself whilst driving... even though I neva touch mine...

sorry for any confusion

If you have a rotary switch to adjust headlamp level (next to the rotary dimmer control) you don't have factory fit xenons.
