Eastern BMW - Edinburgh

Got my car back today. It went in to Eastern BMW to get the last service brought up to an Inspection 2. It had an Inspection 1 around 3 weeks ago, but I got the diff oil, gearbox oil and spark plugs changed to bring it up to an inspection 2.

Car also had a full health check, which uncovered a couple of gremlins, but I'll (edit) NOT repeat all that here. It now has a clean bill of health.

Really pleased with the service, they kept me up to date with video links and regular calls. There was a slight hiccup when they ordered a replacement wheel from the chassis number instead of spotting I have CSLs, but it was fixed pretty quick.

Louise on the service desk did a great job with regular updates on progress, and managed to get the bill down by around £200 - which was good of her.

Shiny new CSL to replace the buckled one

Whilst I know we often give stealers a hard time for their costs, I'm chuffed my car now has a clean bill of health, and Eastern's shuttle service got me to work and back for drop off and collection. Can't fault that.

5 star service IMO

 , dealers don't have to go out of their way to make customers happy, but yet so many fail

Actually so refreshing to hear a dealer providing good service.

Now I need to either move up to Scotland or make the long drove there and back for my servicing!

Wheel was out of shape in two places. Didn't keep it, which I now regret. No wasnt a cheap visit, but at least I have a degree of reassurance that the car is now in tip top condition

Glad to hear it Adam- they have a great reputation amongst the bmwccgb Scotland group- AGM is held there - did you get yourself a set of their Eastern MPower Number plates?

Can recommend Eastern - they tried to sort out an issue with BMW for me regarding a split wheel. So hats off. Always a smile and the offer of a coffee as well as the team go about dealing with your needs.

I needed new front discs and pads for my zed so I rang Eastern this week for a price to supply and fit them. If the price was ok I was going to book my zed in rather than use my usual dealer which I have to travel 30 miles to get to. The lady on the service desk at Eastern took my VIN number and then quoted me £386.07 :o which was rather more than I was expecting to pay The price my local dealer quoted for supply and fitting was £256.21, wasn't so expecting a difference in price of 47%, so how can two dealers be so different :x Rather a shame as it certainly doesn't fill me with confidence to let them quote me in the future for any other work I might need doing. Needless to say my usual dealer who is Menzies of Stirling did the job for me, and as usual it was first class all the way :D

I know its too late now Adam but there are company's that can "straighten" buckled wheels , i was at a place a couple of weeks ago watching & its quite a machine , heats & applies pressure to realign the buckle with great success unless its obviously completely f3rkd
Better with a replacement wheel but would have served as a decent spare with average repair around £45 / £60

Shame when I used them I had to take it back the following day as they had a managaed to get leaves behind the micro filter and it was causing a rather irritating and loud noise especially when the fan was on full. They did sort it but not after the stupid bint on the service desk advised me, well shouted at me and argued in the car park and told me that I was wrong and that the micro filter was to do with the oil and they hadn't touched any of the air filters but I'd had a full service including oil, air and micro filter and spark plugs. I didn't notice the noise when I got the car back because I had the roof down so no vents on.

Needles to say when I spoke to the service manager, Derek and advise where I believed the problem was coming from he agreed, took the car in and spotted it straight away. How they never noticed they had leaves in the system prior to putting a new filter in was beyond me and him but at least they sorted it promptly and quickly

Oh but unlike Peter Vardys they knew my car was a blue E89 and not a black E90 320d (which I've never owned) and they checked the car and found no issues with wheels and tyres like three other garages I asked but Vardys on its visit there in June advised I needed two new front wheels and tyres due to distortion and small cracks in the tyre tread on the outer edge on 7mm tyres which is expected and the cracks are very, very small.

I thought part of an inspection 2 service on a Z4m was a valve clearance check ,which is why the service is so expensive.

Had a couple of bad experiences with Eastern with both my previous Z4M and current zed, needless to say they won't be getting any of my custom in the future.

No, both inspection services cover valve clearances. Insp2 has diff and gearbox oil changes, spark plug change and something else that I can't remember

BrianD - what went wrong? :?
