Hi All,

Some of you that were planning to go on the Lincs meet will already know about this thread, but for those who don't, I'm planning a local road trip and lucheon around the East Mids.

Taking in approximately 100 miles of local roads and a nice pub for a dry-ish lunch stop. There's also the possibility of a stop-off at Donington's F1 museum if people fancy it.

Starting from Uppingham, we'll drive North up towards Melton Mobray, cross country via North Leicester to Donington (there'll be something interesting going on no doubt" and then back via Tilton-on-the-hill back to Uppingham.

Kindly confirm attendance.

Best,
Danny

Hi Danny,

Might be able to do this, but if you are open to route ideas, could I suggest a really good circular route from Uppingham?
B664 towards market harborough, then either north to Hallaton up Moor hill and then left along A47 or on to MH and then north up B6047 cross or exit A47 here and north via Tilton on the hill to Melton Mowbray. Right here on B676 sax by road to colsterworth and A151 to Corby glen, then take the B1176 north (epic roller coaster of a road) :D then head south back down the B6407 to Colsterworth, and back towards Melton, but soon afterwards take The drift south to Thistlton and Market Overton, Cottesmore and down Barnsdale avenue to the A606 and Rutland water. There are pubs at Empington and Manto so you can go either way round the lake and then back to Uppingham.

If you want longer run, from Barnsdale take the East route to the A1m and then south 1/2 mile to A6121 through To morcott over the A47 then under seaton viaduct to caldicott and then north up the A6003 which is one of the best bits of Tarmac if empty, back to uppingham.

Hi,

Yes, I know all of those roads, and I live in Manton.
Rule the Horse & Jockey out tho as the owner is a tw@t.

I suggest that we use your rough route but make sure that we include Donington and s pub near there for a bit of a change. We might find done good racing to watch for an hour which would be a bonus.

Let's have a pint a couple of weeks prior to the day to mark up a map etc.

D

I'll take your guidance on the horse and jockey :D :D

Also if you are interested on the following Sunday, 20th the local Westfield club will set sail for the north Norfolk Coast for a day out, many of us will leave from Peterborough, and I think we only have 3 westfields left as most of us are now in TVR's, Z4's, MX5's etc....if you fancy it. About 15-20 cars we expect.
