East Anglian Zeds - Cromer to Brancaster 30/7/20

A first try at a local road run for Norfolk (ish) Zeds. Based on the experience of meeting in the evenings and having taken comments form Norfolk based forum members.

Meet Blue Sky Cafe car park Cromer by 6:30 to depart 6:45 for a trip down the coast to finish at a yet to be identified hostelry in Brancaster (or Wells if we think we can park; hoping enuff-Zed is going to advise here).

So its a run out after an afternoon picnic or chippy trip in Cromer or a quick dash from work for an early start to the weekend - you know an evening out on Thursday isn't going to make Friday too bad!

Gah, mine's in for a detail on the 30th, would've been tempted with this otherwise!

Sure we'll be trying other things - and no doubt be back for the monthly breakfasts over winter.

I want Alpha to come though so there's at least one other coupe!

Cad Monkey might be along with his coupe - my E85 is starting to look like an endangered species unless Jock drops the meds or 2.2Stu picks the thread up! Be nice to see enuff-Zed and Vall in her E85

Ok, checked with Vall and we're up for this. Not sure which car, but I'll push the E85 case :)

Andy, I've not been to Wells since we moved house 2 years back, so I can't advise to well. I think the car park by the football pitch is opened in the summer, so we may be able to park there, but not sure how late it stays open?
If you have any more certain locations it may be safer to head to them? I'll see what I can find out.

Thanks. Parking in Wells is always a bit of an ordeal - I've googled pubs/hotels in Brancaster and I think there are a couple with good car parks so that might be a safer bet. If we spot a usable one I'll ring and book us in I know one pub you need to book tables. We could really do with pub with a green in front of it. Like the Three Swallows on the Holt road out of Cley - loads of parking and room to 'kick tyres' and socially distance. Shame its in the wrong bit of Norfolk for this trip.

I'll keep an eye out, do like the NN Coast!

Maybe next time

I'm up for this
With regards to a finish venue what about The White Horse at Brancaster Staithe (PE31 8BY), it has a decent size car park behind the pub which overlooks the creek, just food for thought.

Hi thanks, had this one in my sights but had never been. On line pics show a big viewing terrace but can you get outside? Don't think putting us on one table isn't the best idea in these socially distancing times and separate tables sort of kills the idea of meeting up but not talking to everyone!

I'm happy to ring them and book us in.

Last time we went there was last summer and we did have a table on the terrace, but I'm not sure what changes they may have implemented since the Covid outbreak.

Glad to hear you'll be there Dave. Sounds like you two have venues under control? Happy to bring a sandwich and kick tyres somewhere if we have to, but much as she likes driving her Z, talking about it for more than 5 minutes is not Vall's cup of tea.

Sounds good. More info on the pub on FB.......https://m.facebook.com/WhiteHorseBrancaster/?locale2=en_GB

Wish I could be with you guys but a bit of a trek for me! I'd love to take the Zed over there :D .
Me, the wife & our dog Lilly go to NN coast at least once a year for a week or so & know it really well, lovely part of the country. We'll be in Wells at the end September after cancelling our trip to Lanzarote.
You'll find the White Horse gets really busy really quickly. I've struggled to find a parking space before & ended up on the side of the road. I guess it'll be a bit quieter since the lockdown though. An alternative for you could be the Jolly Sailors just down the road from the White Horse http://www.jollysailorsbrancaster.co.uk/. Not as posh as the White Horse but has a large carpark at the front & a large garden. Food & beer also good.
Hope you have a great time & don't forget to put some pics up  .

That's great advice, thank you.
Be sure to let us know when you come over and I'm sure we can arrange some kind of meet up.

Thanks for that. Problem is we're more cafe culture than pubs in our house but they tend to be closed in the evening. We're into school holiday season now so those of us who are about during the day tend to be out an back early or on the back roads away from the tourist hot spots. PM one of us next time you're coming to Norfolk so we can have a meet up
