Early to put into storage ?

It seems a bit early TBH, here in the SW we seem to get as much decent weather later in the year as in the so called 'summer' and any ice/snow i.e. salt-road conditions tend to run from Dec in to March. I've had my Z4 about 11 years now and always tax for a full year (cheaper rate) at the start of March or April and SORN at the end of November that way you get a full refund for the remaining months until you re-tax and break it out in the spring.
It's always serviced and cleaned but put away bone dry after a hot drive, under a cover, in a decent garage and on a Ctek battery conditioner.

I tax mine monthly pay by direct debit- ok costs a bit more but can decide if going to sorn it on last day of month so can take into consideration likely chance that I am going to use the car. If SORN it can do an immediate tax online to get it back on road same day. DD taken 1st of month from bank account but as long as SORN done before midnight on the last day of the previous month it will be refunded automatically mid month. Works really well once set up.

Too early for me, usually end of november or at first sign of salt going down
End of October/November, then back on the road March/April depending on weather. Friend of mine runs a an automotive storage company in Northamptonshire just up the road from me which is convenient

Good call.. I generally tax for 6 months at the start of the year and then just do it monthly for the remainder of the season that way you can stop when you please and not have to wait or chase a refund from the dvla.. just stop the direct debit around the 25th and sorn it on the 30thZ4mal said:Thank you all, it’s staying on the road based on your persuasive advice, for the foreseeable months…. I might SORN mine this year, but certainly not before November - that's around the time I put the winter tyres on the daily!
Cheques from DVLA seem to arrive within about a week based on the last couple of times I've sold a car so I don't mind putting a year's tax on it as that's the cheapest option. :wink:

have you seen the weather forecast for next week? 27 degrees and sunny here, definitely still roadster weather.
And to be fair, february a few years back had plenty of sunshine... the UK weather is so unpredictable theres nearly always the potential for a nice day.
