Early E85 prices

What is going on with the prices of early pre-facelift models at the moment - particularly 3.0 litre ones ? I know this is the time of year when they would be at a premium but asking prices for even average milers seem to on the up - even higher than a year ago. Several on AT , even with 50k + miles are £7k + inc private and trade sales. Of course Synters have to go one further - 2003 3.0i with 50k miles - not a high spec either up for £8850
 
Well, its a great looking car especially compared to cars of the same period, its aging really well, therefore at some point its going to start appreciating, or at least depreciating less
 
There are quite a few sub £5000 as well.

I'm (embarrassingly) keeping an eye out for one. :rofl:

NeilP, I keep looking at the cheaper end too as Mrs C is making noises about getting one, and I'm getting a tad precious about Red :oops:

I'd think generally you get what you pay for in the world of the Z4....

When I purchased mine nearly 3 years ago I looked for 8 months to find the perfect example with low miles. I did want a facelift model but I looked all over the south, all at top drawer money & they were shocking, most high miles, fag burns, non starting one at BMW (I won't name the dealer in Hampshire), roofs not working, battered centre consoles, just generally poor condition until I found a pre-facelift well looked after gem privately advertised in Chichester.....

I was very particular in what I wanted, but I was prepared to pay top money for the right Z4 ... :thumbsup:

What a shame you missed out the best one... The 3.4 Alpina RS ! :D
 
I've noticed a definite firming up of prices compared with last year. I'm not sure if this is reflective of the general boom the 'interesting' end of the used car market has been enjoying recently or if it's more down to the E85 ageing extremely well. The latter is certainly true. 8)
 
With these early prices on the rise...what's everyone's thoughts on examples that have been tinkered with? (remaps and such)

I'm seriously tempted if it's still around in a few weeks (subject to history), or am I better off going after an unmodified one?
 
jamesbond, not to fussed with that, I'd imagine there would be someone interested in swapping anyway.
 
I'm seriously thing about selling mine so I'm keeping an eye on the market. It's not that it's not a great car, it is and it's even better with all the bits I've done to it. But, it's just not "me" and I just want a more usable car.

So, if anyone may be on the look out for a slush-box 3.0i with plenty of work done, give me a shout. No matter what happens, I'll be selling at the end of the summer when Mrs Stratts has had her fun. Let's hope the prices stay strong.
