Eagerly awaiting my new car!

Hi all,

I'm a newbie to the forum although I have been reading other peoples posts over the last few days and found answers to lots of my questions so - thank you...great forum.

I test drove a beautiful E86 3.0Ssi Sport Coupe last Saturday and fell in love with it straight away. The deposit went down and I'm eagerly awaiting the phone call from the dealer to say that I can pick it up! this morning he told me that if the can get the MOT done in time I should be able to pick it up tomorrow...I can't even wait that long!

As soon as I have it I will post some pics. It is Carbon Black, with extended caramel leather, professional sat nav/TV, etc etc. It's one hell of a car.

The only thing missing is bluetooth prep (since I will be commuting every day in it I will need this). The dealer told me that this is a very expensive option to retro-fit so I won't go down that route. I already have a Parrot MK19200 from my wife's old car that I could get fitted. I had 4 questions re this:

1. Since the car has professional sat nav - can the display be used in any way with the Parrot kit (i'm guessing not).
2. I was considering getting Halfords to fit it for me at a cost of £50 - has anyone used Halfords and if so did they do a good job?
3. Can anyone recommend where to place the screen and microphone in the car?
4. Is there another brand of bluetooth car kit/music streaming that works better with the zed (and the sat nav screen) than the Parrot kit?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome! Sounds like an incredible car, can't wait for pics!

Sorry I can't answer your questions, but someone will.

You may have noticed a bit of friendly rivalry here, so I'll start:
Nice car, too bad the roof is stuck! :poke:

Welcome to the fun house

Can't help on bluetooth either, but sure someone will be along who can offer some words of wisdom :)

Hello and welcome, you've picked the right car (the one with a roof!) I think I know the exact car you've purchased was it an AUC car? I like you have a Carbon Black Coupe, I'm sure lots of people here will be able to help you with your bluetooth questions.. including a certain other Carbon Black coupe owner

I think your car might already have been seen on the forum. Black and caramel rings some recent bells....... Oh yeah, welcome along :)

Hi everyone, thanks for welcoming me to the forum!

When I was searching for the right car it was a difficult choice to make - the roadster or the Coupe...both stunning to look at. But when I sat in the one that I bought I was convinced it was the right car for me.

I was very temped to buy a roadster from Cargiant a few weeks back, it had a nice spec and seemed reasonably priced. However, service history (or lack of it) made me uneasy - it had only once service at 15k miles yet had covered 64k miles and was a 58 plate.

You're right Bluestreak56...it's an AUC. The dealer has confirmed that I can pick it up tomorrow afternoon...I can't wait! I will post again with some pics.

Oh...Stuart, thanks for the link to the Dice...I've never heard of these but it looks like a great piece of kit. It may have to go under the radar of my wife who's no doubt going to remind me for months how much money I've just spent on a new car!

Cheers

Here it is! I picked it up yesterday afternoon ad haven't stopped smiling since! I'm even looking forward to driving to work today!

That is a weird one.. I have seen it though.

Would be easy to check though as you just go to the menu on the nav screen and select telephone!

I will take some good pic this weekend and post them.

I've checked through the menu on the nav screen and there is no telephone function. On the bright side I was looking through all the manuals last night and found one for the ipod interface connector. I went straight out to the car and there it is in the glove compartment! The dealer never mentioned this and it wasn't included in the speck on the AUC website. It seems to work with my iphone 4 although it doesn't seem to allow track selection - just allows me to skip through a very random selection of tracks - although I haven't spent much time playing around with this yet.

Given that this has been installed and the car has an AUX input I don't think I will install the parrot car kit after all. I'll just use the speaker function on the iphone when I need to make a call.

Right - I need an excuse to go and drive somewhere! :driving:
