Fuel pump? Had similar on my e85 :?

Could be early signs of wheel bearing - if it is it will get progressively worse with miles

Does it get worse when cornering? Worn wheel bearings usually get louder under load :(

Is it when you decelerate through about 60 MPH? Its a known noise from the transmission. can be expensive to try and fix... other threads on here. I get it, but as some have said just turn your stereo up a little! :D

Sometimes it's not there no worse on corners any side ? So prob see if it gets worse in time it's not that bad I'm just aware of it not like a rubbing or banging just a slight whirling

Is it definately coming from the rear though?
Had a slight whirring noise 2 years ago and the only thing I could find not 100% right was the coolant level was a bit low.
I took it to be the electric pump making a noise now and again. Probably wrong but the noise has not came back.
Could only hear it with the roof down too.

Yes Manuel car is it worth getting an oil change on gearbox and diff ? Not sure if these get oil change after so many years or mileage or left alone not sure if they do need oil changes what's the going rate on each and are there any good specialists in South Wales area thanks

Does your car make the noise whilst it's running but stationary? If it does it's not the diff
The fuel pump noise on my e85 was a buzzing type noise over my right shoulder as you said.
Rob

No noise rob when stationary car is on 54.000 miles at moment so not sure if these 6 speed gearbox and diff do require a oil change I read somewear that they are filled with Longlife oil in them but I'm not sure if people do give these a oil change

Bmw say they are filled for life but others interpret this as every 100k, your car should be fine at 50k & a relatively young age, I'd jack it up & check for a worn wheel bearing or a dragging brake :?

Yes rob since I owned it as it's not very loud I didn't hear it but notice it today it dosent get to loud I just know it's there aware of it but around town you don't notice it but on motorway I can it's not to a point it's anoying just aware so I'm trying to find out if something can get serviced or checked out wish I could explain a bit better lol

It maybe just tyre noise, you almost sit next to the rear tyres with a zed, runflats can be particularly noisy :o
Rob

Does it sound like rubbing dics if you understand what I mean? Pads rubbing slightly?

No not like discs or bearing rumble noise just like a slight woo woo noise on and off lol not loud or vibrating

Latest is I contacted Forza GB Monmouth only 1 hour drive away asked them on an oil change in the Manuel 6 speed gearbox and Diff only for piece of mind and this is the reply I had has anybody used this place as I'm not sure of anybody closer in South Wales I have read reviews on BMW specialist in Fabian way Swansea and they are not very good so not sure wear to go but Forza GB reply sounded good

There is no service interval for gearbox on the e89 as they are filled with an MTL lifetime oil. We recommend the oil is changed at about 100k miles. To change the oil, the cost would be £49.
The differential again is fitted with a lifetime oil, however do we find that the BMW differentials can occasionally be unreliable(normally 1 and 3 series) so recommend the oil is change at the third oil change (circa 60k miles) again the cost for the change is £49.

You can tell if it may be the diff. Diff noise will be when its 'pulling' on throttle. When you are off throttle (but still rolling) a diff noise will often go silent.
