E89 Z4 M Sport

Hi all, previous Z4 owner wanting back into the fold!

I've had to re-adjust my budget after speaking to a lovely forum member recently :) I've decided to set my budget at around £14,000

I'm after an E89 Z4, I have a list of desirables/essentials, but (strangely?) the cars condition would be more important than spec for me...

So essential: M Sport spec, manual, mileage below 50,000, full service history (not necessarily main dealer), heated seats, 19inch alloys.

Desirable Plus!: I'd really like better than the base speaker system - but again, if everything else was perfect, I coud live without and potentially upgrade later;

The only colours I wouldn't want are black and dark blue - previous experience puts me off these colours, so White, Valencia Orange, Silver, Grey, Red I would love, and really have no preference, it's the condition that matters to me more.

Obviously, the better the spec the better, but I wouldn't be put off by lack of iDrive, or comfort pack, or other items deemed essential by others.

I would be subtly modifying the car anyway, so would not be put off by a sensible remap, springs or spacers. No lairy stickers or stripes please!

Hoping to grab a really well loved and looked after zed, so if you're contemplating selling, let me know!

Many thanks,

John

What engine are you thinking of 4 or 6 cylinder ? Size preference if 6 ?
Where roughly are you located ?

There's always something missed!

I think realistically I would be looking at a 2litre turbo. I don't think I'd stretch to a 35 at this budget, and having read through lots of posts about pros and cons of 3litre NA vs 2litre remapped, I'd probably prefer a 2litre (and remapped)

I don't have a preference re interior leather colour either - most interiors go with their exterior enayway!

I'm based in Whitehaven in Cumbria, but will travel for the right car. My last zed I went to Perth in Scotland!

Many thanks

Crikey, these cars must be brilliant, nobody is selling!

Still looking; there is a few approved used, but I think I'd rather go private if possible, as you get a better feel for the car and it's life!

Give me a shout, even if you're cosidering selling after Christmas.

Willing to travel for the right car.

Many thanks all.

Hi there,

Yes, unfortunately too many miles for me. I may be swayed by an auto if everything else was perfect?

I know these aren't sports cars as such, more a GT, so perhaps an auto wouldn't be as bad as I imagine.

It's all about the cruising and chilling with the roof down :)

What’s the reason for sticking to under 50k lyrical...? The bottom end of the 35 cars are steel as standard, 100k is nothing for them. Have you considered going for a few more miles, picking up a nice 35i in manual, then you wouldn’t need to spend on a remap etc,..?

My 35i is on 114k miles and you couldn’t tell it apart from a 50k miler tbh. Anyway best of luck whichever road you follow. :driving:

Hi all,

As above, no longer looking for a Z4, 'cos I bought one!

Ok, so you know I said I wanted heated seats and upgraded speakers? Well, it hasn't got them :D

It's a white Z4 M Sport, red leather, with comfort pack and the 19's I wanted. the seller for me - a 15 plate, one owner, FSH with only 5600 miles.

It's basically like a new car in and out. Approved used BMW, had to travel 14 hr round trip - from Cumbria to Plymouth!

I think I got a great deal - it was originally up at £15400, was reduced to £15000, so I offered £13000 plus my 2009 99000miler seat ibiza as trade.

They accepted! The invoice says 750 discount plus 1250 for the SEAT - I would have struggled to get that private given the mileage.

They refurbed the aloys, and fresh MOT.

I love it!

Pics to follow once it's clean :D

Cheers all

So love the Z4.

But, booked in to Ptorque tomoro!

Can't wait!

If you can, can you get two dyno runs before n after to add to our database of info..is it an auto?

Yup, will do. Rolling road is part of the deal at ptorque :)

The guy said figures would be 260bho and 420nm, so will be interesting to see what it gives. Car is manual.

So I had the z4 remapped today by Will at Ptorque. Great service, friendly and knowledgable chap!

When I first drove the Z when I bought it, I was surprised that 150 bhp ish felt pretty decent, I suppose the low driving position, roof down, noise and the fact I had just traded in a 80bhp ibiza would do that.

Wanted a remap with rolling road to check the car was good before mapping, fortunately it was. I am chuffed to bits with this one.

Remap done - headline figures 266bhp and 413nm torque. Overtaking is a doddle.

Accelerated in first , through to second then third and felt a lot of power - very quick indeed. I cant imagine a 3 litre turbo mst be like!

I'm more than happy and feel like it's now got the power to match its looks. What a gorgeous shape it is - far better in real life than pictures.

Remap pics now, car pics once clean!

Hello thnx for this..so your E89 is a 18i?

Hi, yes it's an 18i.

Felt great on the way home, but the majority was on the motorway so I'll get a better feel for it on local roads, overtaking on A roads etc.

No regrest as yet :D

Well the good news is that the baseline figure and the re-map numbers all fall in the plausible range so looks kosher..
