e89 wheels cracking

I have these wheels on my 28i, 19" with Potenza r/fs, shown wheel ( rear ) has cracks , question...do these wheels still suffer from cracking with non r/f tyres or does it happen regardless of tyres ?

To my knowledge there’s zero hard evidence to either scenario Greg but the majority suggest non run flats vastly reduce cracking.....

If my wheel is repairable I'm going to replace the tyres with non r/f.

Goodyear F1, fitted next Wednesday, £589 from Black Circles, I'll let you know what they're like, ATS doing the fitting.

good choice, will certainly minimize the risk of cracking over runflats.
tyre pressures also helps, and driving around the potholes if you can

Not seen much around cracks and non R/F to be honest. Suppose they could still happen, but should be less likely.
But large consensus obviously that R/F's and cracked rims is a little more than coincidental. I swapped from the PZero R/f to the f1's. Much better ride and definitely more confidence in pushing on a bit!

yep, agreed.
as i said, try to avoid the potholes when you can, and i run 33/34f and 36/37r.
some will not agree, but works for me , no passenger or weight carried except me and the occasional skinny bird. :wink:

I have Eagle F1's on my 19" 326s (non RF) and before that Pirelli P Zeros (non RF). Touch wood thats been 4 years and the alloys seem ok, I remember hitting a pothole with the rear and it was bad enough to create a bulge in the tyre (new tyre :x) but the alloy was ok.

Had the Goodyears on for a few weeks now and it's certainly quieter and definitely a smoother ride, I've just done two long trips and quite a bit on rough roads so I'm going to take the wheels off at the weekend and check for cracks.

Sounds like a no brainer really. Im yet to read a post where someone says they are going back to run flats. Hope the wheels were ok and thanks for replying.
