e89 wanted 2009-2016

Hi

Just joined the forum as coming for the world of boxsters to Z4s!

I am looking for a "daily" 2nd car to use throughout the year. Needs to be 2009-16 model but open to suggestions on engine etc

I think the M-sport seems to be the most desirable? Automatic is probably desirable also as I will be using it a lot.

Any help would be gratefully received. Car ideally would be less than 40k mileage.

Budget is flexible. Based in North Hampshire but will to travel for right car

Let me know if anyone has anything?

Hi Paul, I came from a 718 Boxster to a G29 S30i. Your budget should stretch to one of those with a very good spec, unless you prefer the previous iteration?

So have found a 2014 one with 60k miles 2.0l 184 bhp. Asking price £12k

Looks the basic spec but is this good value?

Is it a private sale or dealer? Is it M sport spec?

I wouldn’t say it’s a bargain, but then each car has to be taken at face value, service history, overall condition, tyres etc,

I saw this one on Autotrader as a good comparison

Hi and welcome matey.
If you attach a link to any cars you like, we can generally tell from the pictures what spec it is. I wouldn't rely on what you are told by a seller (especially if it's a dealer), as they have so many available options lots don't know what they have got.
Do you want an SE, or not bothered?

This looks like good value for the mileage, entry level spec but nice colour

I recommend making a list of your non negotiable & wants but not needs

Let us know & that will help as the gang here are great at spending everyone’s money

For example for me Hard Top (which meant e89 within my budget) mileage, heated seats, manual, 2.5l as a minimum & either Red, Blue or Black were non negotiable

Parking sensors, I drive, wind deflector - I got but we’re not that important

DAB radio, fold up wing mirrors were not important & mine doesn’t have these features

So I’d suggest coming up with a list first of all

MSport Auto is the way to go …

If used as a daily then idrive, decent audio, full Bluetooth, cruise and PDC plus heated seats should be in your list…

Mileage is relatively immaterial, especially for a daily, open yourself up to 50K+ miles

20i with right spec is currently in the 13k-15k ball park it seems..

I will have a go!

Dark colour
Definately a hard top so needs to be 2009-2016 e89
Ideally DCT gearbox as will be doing a bit of business driving. Manual would be OK but a straightforward auto probably not
M Sport spec
Not the lowest spec engine as need to balance performance/economy but equally could be tempted by a 35i !!
idrive, cruise and PDC as will be used daily
Heated seats ideally
Wind deflector
Xenons
Parking sensors

Desirable but not essential
Folding wing mirrors
Mileage below 50k

Any help with finding a car would be much appreciated! I am keen to get into the Z4 forum community having had boxsters of various guises for the last 10 years. I am very taken with the Z4 hard top concept!

Thats a well specced car to find but not impossible with patience, my advice is to learn how to tell the difference between an SE & M Sport as quite a lot of cars are advertised incorrectly.

Based on your wants an M Sport highline maybe the way to go as a Manuel

Personally I always prefer a older car that is high spec to a newer car with basic spec.

Good hunting

The spec is flexible.

The only thing I am really keen on is the newer hardtop and a DCT box.

I agree - a 2009/10/11 car with better spec if better than a 13/14 basic car

With a little bit of patience I think you will find what you are after good luck with your search 🙂👍

If you want DCT you'll need either the 35i or the 35is. I wouldn't rule out the auto though, the newer one on the 4-pot cars is said to be very good.

Lots of cars not advertised on autotrader found these useful to pick up other- link for a 35i dct but you can change.

I wouldn't be put off by non msport model if car has m sport seats(heated). Most non z4 owners would not know the difference and believe ride is more compliant -depending on wheel size and if run flat tyres(fitted as standard when new) or non runflats.
