E89 v 370Z

"It doesn't feel like a pair of turbo's - it feels like a pair of testes - big meaty one's......."

Love it : )

This is one of the reasons I test drove the Zed in the first place (following three MX-5's).

Ooops that reply looks well dodgy, no, not test drove because of the testes remark, because of his review..!

On the strength of the top gear comparison I test drove both. The 370z is a bargain, has lots of kit (black edition) and is very reasonably priced. It is however quite a bit more expensive to insure, and at 12-15mpg around town also a lot more costly to fuel, at least for me, as I was looking for a daily driver and a fun car in one. 370z also has lots of torque, but the engine does sound a bit dull, there's no exhaust note to speak of for such a large engine, nothing throaty. Handling was also a bit twitchy on city roads and the suspension is very hard. Still, it was a very nice car, looked stunning as the black edition and if I were 25>30 I'd have that in a heartbeat. But I'm a bit older than that, still want the power and fun, but also want some comfort and style, hence the Z4 35i.

I'd thoroughly recommend the 370z to anyone wanting to be thrown about by a bit of muscle (no Mark/Testes comparisons please lol).

Im 28 and I think the Nissan looks like a pig....the 350Z looked like a concept car and it worked, the 370Z is change for changes sake and it looks like its melted. The fuel filler cap is the size of a childs head, ut there to try and stay in proportion with the bloated body. It's like a beached walrus with ugly overhangs and massive lights. Horrible design.

To summarise, I don't like it.

I'd take the Z4 too, albeit as an M Sport to beef up the looks a bit. I do wish they would hurry up and build an M.

I like the front and rear e89 bumpers on the M Sport, and I'd have gladly taken an M Sport version of my car (though I'm over the moon with the one I have) had the price of insurance not been £500 a year more! Yep, £500 a year more to insure the car as an M Sport variant... for a different set of bumpers and a 'carbony' interior. er... nah.

Almost bought a 370Z! Nice car. I liked it. A bit more of a sportscar feel than the E89. Test drove both, ended up with the E89. For me it's just a better made, classy car. Especially the interior! Sounds nicer too.
The 370Z's manual box is nice with the throttle blip on down shifts in sport mode mind! 8)

I also like both.. if i wanted comfort/ GT i would go for the Z4, if i wanted a race car i would get the 370Z.

Like the Clarkson said "Perfect, but you can't really explain why"

What's a shame is this clip doesn't show his comments in the studio afterwards, where he says
"Honestly - If somebody said to me you have to have one of these for the rest of your life, I would be delighted" :D & "the Nissan rather boring by comparison"  even little ratty-the Porsche loving hammond says I love it

You can see these and the other studio comments at about 7m 30secs into Davids video here

Personally, I don't care if the Zed goes round the track .7 of a second slower than the Nissan, "I'll be too busy looking good" to care :D :D

I do like the fact that the Zed does the track the same as a Subaru WRX and beats the Porsche 911 Carerra S by the same amount though .7secs  Yaagh
