E89 TV problems

Hi my car has the TV module fitted and works fine but the reception for it is terrible. For example it works in some areas and not others, it just says no signal when it's not working. Can't even get it working in my driveway. The aerial is a standard one. Does this aerial do the TV or is it just the radio? Anybody else have the TV module fitted in their car and do you have the same issues?

TV is a super rare option... given you can only watch it when stationary. I'm not sure if the TV antenna is part of the multifunction antennae in the bumper but RealOEM might give you a head start.
 
My X6 has this also and a lot of the time it says no signal.
It is strange the way it works though as one second you have a picture and then the next without moving it says no signal.
Although I have used it while waiting I don't really know why anybody would want it in their car.
 
Yeah I know what you mean, I won't use it either just nice to know it's there as a selling plus point. When I bought the car, the TV function worked straight away in the sellers driveway but I have to drive out to an open area to get it working. He must get a good signal at his house. Does anyone know where the TV aerial is in the car or does it use the normal aerial ?

If it's the same as my X5 tv try a retune as it will be tuned to where the original/previous owner lived.

Number 11 is what your looking for unless you also have factory fitted DAB then it's number 13

Thanks for the info. This forum is great. Yeah it also has the DAB which works fine, TV works just not in my driveway so I assume all is ok just crappy reception at my house. I assume the normal aerial just does the normal radio then?
 
I tried it again today, rescanned for channels and tuned in to one. After a minute or so of running fine, no signal comes up on the screen, then after a few seconds the picture appears again.
I dont really understand how it can get a signal one minute but then lose it the next without moving.
 
I had the TV option in one of my e86's and despite 3 visits to dealer it never got better than rubbish
