I have a smart top fitted, though this was before having the update, still all works perfectly though.

I reckon I will be doing the same ! Are they very expensive ?

Be warned about the update!
Dealer said forty mins so agreed to wait, but when they started they said it would be four hours and they had no loan cars left.

Nearly £300 and will invalidate your warranty for any roof or electrical issues if discovered by a dealer.

It doesn't offer me enough to take the risk.

Works perfectly and can be removed in about 5mins flat leaving no trace.... Seems reasonable to me.

The update should not under any circumstances take that long!!! It's a 1:30 MAXIMUM!

It was said somwhere on this forum that everything is in place for the key in the pocket access (easy access?) and it was down to a few lines of code.

I wonder - I might have to bend their ears. It is a real problem for me getting in or out it I can't open the door wide - hence I have to drop the roof.

From what I read Ronk, as part of the security update they disabled it but with a caveat that if the customer wanted that function back, it could be coded to do so.

Well, just got back from having mine done. 1 1/2 hours, 2 cups of coffee, several packets of biscuits and and a full car valet. Can't be bad...lol

Hi

Had the security update done on my E90 , also after having problems with the boot not locking had to have a new control module ! this entailed having full software update, now the Voice command/dial button on the steering wheel no longer works. Dealership now say a revised software download is required to rectify the Voice dial problem which is likely to take some time !!. :o :x

Some time to install, or some time to be developed?

My e89 (mid 2012) has the update already, but the voice dial button works. Our 1'er had the update applied...will check the voice button on that.

Have you tried pressing the unlock button twice on the fob? This will drop the drivers window 3/4 of the way when you open the door to allow easy entry in tight spots. I had this problem as I park in a tight spot at home, only found out by accident after month or so :headbang:

Tim.

I do the two press/ window down and that is a great help but not as much as the roof down!

I tbink I will have to see if I can upgrade to the key in the pocket access. The z4 is hardly a mobility car but I have problems with my dodgy leg and a little bit of electronic fiddling might be able to help. If it costs me I think it will be worth it.

Tried our 1er and the voice dial works (press button, say Dial Number, then say the number etc. I don't have any name tags stored).

Have you checked and e90 forums to see if this is common...or is it possible something went wrong with the update?

just had mine done they also replaced both rear lights and told me the
i-drive control is faulty and have ordered one to fit when it comes back in for its service.

Is this just something I didn't spot before, or has the icon for Sport + mode changed after update? When you select it the dash image now shows the 'stability control off' icon next to it? Sure it didn't before...
