I think the dealers need to sort their act out, will find out Monday morning about 8.30 what they say about mine..thankfully mine wasnt nicked when in birmingham

Which dealership are you taking it to and did you have to prompt them?

Mines in at cooper teesside was told by woman on phone only x5 and x6 then she was corrected by her manager she rang back and confirmed it can be booked in, to be fair she had just come back of holiday

was booked in this morning but when i arrived the dealer is now saying it is ONLY for cars with comfort access and refused to do job :x

This is what I was told (see earlier post in this thread). However, it seems that other non-Comfort Access owners have had their cars done. :( The problem with all this is that it's a bit of a cock-up on the PR front and BMW needs to send a clear and consistent message to its network otherwise we all end up thinking they are a bunch of chumps.

They are
ALL POST AUG07 Cars ALL models NOW included 1,3,5,Z4 etc etc series
Call the help line at BMW they decide NOT THE DEALER

As already posted :o

It seems, as wegras points out, that there are a number of layers to these updates. What was a radio key/odb cloning issue is now an all post 07 car encryption and radio/odb update. As he points out, call the bmw number he gives as clearly the dealers aren't all up to speed.

Jut got my car back from Cooper Teesside, all updated (they have done something to software as all my key settings have changed windows, door unlock etc)

Mine does NOT have comfort access and I never rang BMW direct, just one call to dealers and booked in no problems

Ours done today, Stratstone Tyneside was with them for about 2 hours, long enough to be seriously considering an M135i........ :(

I called Stratstone last week and mine goes in next week - the service desk said the fix was available for all cars now....

You could have uncovered the master plan!!!! Get these cars in that are now at least 1 yr old, and tempt them into a new car.

As already advised DON'T go straight to the dealer but use the 0800 customer service number
despite being booked in Saturday and then refusing to do the job it turns out both my cars DO need doing. So customer service are contacting dealer for the recall.
Looking forward to the grovelling apology i am going to make the service guy give me :D

I called my Dealer and they came straight back saying both cars required the upgrade ,the Z4 was right on the edge ( wrong edge )of manufacturing date but would do it anyway
(how's that for Service )

Posted new information here but was soundly derided by some who should know better .So called BMW who indeed confirmed
the criteria we are all now familiar with and actually appreciated it being spread far and wide via forums

It is a large undertaking ,but both mine are in Tuesday

Got our 1'er booked in for oil service on Friday and asked dealer to do it, as car is Feb 2011. Said they would check. People on the babybmw.net forum have had it done.

Rang the helpline mentioned in this thread today and the guy didn't know if it was available yet for the 1 series. So I would say that helpline isn't the font of all knowledge.

Also asked about my Z4...its a '62 reg and he said that means its a 2012 car (true) and therefore a F model so not needed. I said it was an E89 Z4 and he said its outside of the date range (Sept 2011) and the technology changed at that time which stopped the vulnerability.

Seems to me the helpline is just checking if your car is within the relevant date constraints?

So, my questions now, due to him saying F models not affected, does the Sept 2011 cut off still apply to Z4? i.e. did they automatically make the change to the E89 at that time, or is the Sep 2011 cut off based on that being when F cars came out, and an E model car still needs it? This guy on the helpline said its not needed, but now I'm unsure.

Had the update done yesterday. I was hoping it would update the idrive software but it doesn't seem to have. I also have go back for a new window motor, cracked 326 and an esp fault investigation, thankfully all under warranty.
