A question to all you E89 owners. What are the seats like in your cars. Do they offer much support and keep you in place.? Do they come in only one version also.?

As the Standard seats in the E85 are just utter rubbish I wondered if the E89 seats would fit. Sheer Curiosity

Be interesting to hear your views :D

The sports seats are comfy and hold you well with adjustable bolsters and all other usual adjustments. I wish mine had lumbar adjustment though as on long journeys my back hurts due to an injury.

If you've got a dealership with a Z4 in the show-room walk into the dealership like you own it and sit in the Z4 & find out. Seats are a personal thing, I can't stand BMW Performance\Recaro seats, they give me back ache in no time, but others swear by them.

EDIT: looks like there are 2 different types of seats if you look at a 1.8i not a 35iS

Standard seats are not very good at all for long journeys, you need the MSport ones

I do 500 miles a week and had the standard seats, I began to suffer with trapped nerve in my shoulder after a few months, lasting a month or so and would re-occur 6 to 9 months later. I didn't put this down to the seats at first it, only realising after I had sold the zed as I've not had a re-occurrence.

I love the E89 seats ... I hated the seats in my Z4M though; they were far too firm. These are nice and comfy :D

Hi

I have the 35is and the seats are really nice

Mine are heated and fully electric .. also I opted for the lumbar option which was not available on my old E85 Z4 m's .. this makes a real difference as well

Did a 300 mile round trip Fri & Sat, my biggest fear was the long journey as I made the conscious decision not to take the Range Rover, we part company with it this week.

Well no problems there, no backache, didn't need to stop, other than that a coffee was required.

More than happy with the seats.

They are great for playing tricks on your other half. Every now and then I inflate the blosters on the passenger she so she thinks shes putting on weight.

.. you've got to train them! :D

Personally i think the e89 sports seats offer more support than the e85 ones...but i prefer the look of the e85 sport seats.... But this is based on a couple of test drives!

 that's a good trick!

we have an E89 with the sports seats , i think they are superb , i'm a rep and have had experience with numerous makes , out of all of them the E89 sports seat is superb and would not consider anything less , the worst seat ive sat in is a toss between my brothers Land Rover defender and the Toyota Avensis , the toyota car was Utterly crap and the front seats were just as crap i had back ache for months when i had the misfortune to have to drive one of the crappy Pigging things

Seems that BMW have really sorted out the seats in the new Z judging by all the positive comments.

So are these sports seats.?

I have a history of sciatica and can easily get pain in the lower back and right leg on a long car journey. However I've not had any problems in any of my 3 E89s with Msport seats.

I have two herniated discs and sciatica in my left leg and I find the lack of lumbar support in mine a real problem after about 2 hours driving. They're not bad seats but for BMW to make lumbar an option is a rip.

The sport seats in the E89 are great, very comfortable. I used to have an E85 with sport seats as well and these are better (the E89 ones). Agree with above comments, lumbar should have been standard

When I picked up my 35iS had a drive from Hampshire to Aberdeenshire (over 2 days) and I felt better than I did after the two flights to get down there

Seats are great :) - better than a Flybe planes

I have always wondered if they will fit, they sell for good prices on ebay compared the E85 sports seats too.
