Did this today on my 2013. One less thing to worry about. I did disconnect the battery just to be sure I did not short anything. Just takes an extra minute to do.

You wouldn’t have shorted anything changing the relays, trust me I’ve changed plenty of them on working railway signalling systems

Just make sure if it's mains voltage that you have sole control of the main breaker.
" Is it off" i said, yes came the reply.
:o

Did I miss something on here? Looks like RobbiZ4 has well and truly taken his ball and gone home! :o

Hopefully they will both reconsider their positions at some time in the near future as both were great asset to the forum.

Its a bit sad when this happens and can ruin a lot of threads on forums when posts are deleted.
I have seen it happen a few times on other forums and its pathetic going through all the posts editing them. :(
If someone is done with the forum they should just walk away as when they do this they look rather stupid if they ever come back.

Does that apply to both the parties?

I've seen this happen before on a different forum - This is one possible solution. In the meantime you want to limit this person's access to the board before more community content is removed.

Tbh, many of the posts were condescending, rude and unhelpful.

I won’t deny there was some degree of technical knowledge, but if the information is put across in an unhelpful format, then what is the point.

Writing no 50x in a post is not helpful. It also discourages others from asking questions, or putting forward ideas.

These forums are supposed to be constructive, and obviously some previous members had trouble with that.

Educate, don’t belittle.

Best thing is to look forward, and carry on as normal.

Any roof issues, we can pool our knowledge and relay back what BMW engineers have said.

There should be enough content on here anyway for most things.

Ignore the trivial edited comments, who cares.

We can start new threads on here.

If people want to return, and contribute to be helpful, then thats great too. :)

Just noticed that there was not just one who deleted their posts and yes it applies to both parties and everybody else in the world who does this.

Stumbled across the reference to Salmon Relays on another thread and after realising it did not refer to some kind of aquatic race I followed the instructions on here.
5 minute job and worth it. Looks like the original 2010 relays so thanks OP.

Noted my battery looks original too (05/10) but have not noted any related issues (yet) . I have charged it whilst it was SORNed until recently .

Not meaning to worry you but just so you are warned there has been issues with the electronic parking brake needing a software update and it seems to be caused by the battery starting to fail. There is a thread on here somewhere about it and a few here have had this issue, ours included.

Thank you Nictrix and maxman, sounds like another issue to avoid.
can I ask if this battery looks ok please ?https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/varta/e39/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2J_K6Pah6QIVmrh3Ch1xcw32EAkYASABEgLeAPD_BwE

If so I understand I will then have to register it.

Thanks

Looks ok to me, when I replaced my battery recently I ordered an Exide 096 AGM Car Battery 70Ah AGM700 EK700, it was £102.34
And yes it should be registered to the car

Thanks Maxman . It looks like the same price on their EbY store when you include postage. Either way the price does not seem too bad.

Thank you Chippie. Did you register it yourself using something like Carly?

Yes I used ISTA but Carly will also do it, depending where you are there may be a member local to you that could register it for you

Getting back to the original theme of the thread, I changed the relays this week and first impressions are that the roof operation seems a bit quicker and more positive. Could that just be my imagination?
