Hi all, bit of advise needed, may sound like a stooped question but I am a z noob, sooo.... when I put the roof down or up obviously I press the relevant button on the console, thing is do I need to keep my finger on this button or just press it once then let go? I would try it but down want to get it stuck, if anyone can let me know that would be awesome, thanks in advance.

In the car you press the button until the process completes.
I learnt on here that when out of the car you can also lower via the remote on some cars, to do this again you have to hold the button down when unlocking the car. The roof will then follow and lower into the boot. You must hold the button down until the process is complete. If you dont it will stop (Thats what I find anyway) and you will have to finsih the process in the car using the console button.
The only thing it doesnt do on the remote is return the windows to normal, it leaves them down.
Have fun testing until you suss it out

The smarttop is an aftermarket box that lets things like the roof be operated while moving and also one touch operation, ie press the roof button once and the roof will open instead of holding it. it can do more but thats probably the main thing.
I would guess you dont have this fitted as you have to hold the roof button.

When I am treating the rubber seals on the roof I deliberately stop the roof part way as I can get to the seals under the back part if the roof better when it's in mid air. Funny to see, but when I press the button again the roof resumes from where I let off.
