Has anyone got the the part number for the roof microswitches the roof has been "bonging" sometimes when driving and although it could be a combination of battery/short journeys. I cant tell the age of the battery through normal ways, so I thought I would get some microswitches and hall sensors on my garage shelf just in case.I've got the part number of the hall sensors but not the others....Ta

Here you go, all the part numbers you’ll ever need

Why waste money, the Hall switches are silly money. But probably never go wrong, usually it's their wiring, as my car is experiencing now.
Will fix by splicing in new wires come first dry day.

Thanks for the micro part numbers........got an equivalent pair of hall sensors from BMW uk for £31 inc postage.(bmw 1 series cabrio)

Thanks
Cant believe the difference in price..
For the sake of a connector..
I will splice the old connector of and solder it on to the new hall sensor..at this price I will replace both of them as well as the microswitch..located at the right hand side in the boot compartment..inline with the fuel filler..
Cheers

Hello,

I am having some problem with my roof too, blinking red. I rarely use the roof, the hardtop is mostly on and closed. Not sure what happened.

Bought a VeePeak OBDII and scanned it.

A690 - Microswitch, rear-end module closed, left
A696 - Hall sensor, open circuit, closing movement, rear-end module
A698 - Rear-end module open during driving

The battery is old, year 2011, if I remember correctly. I was getting some "Increased battery discharge" messages lately because of the lockdown. Bought a CTEK charger and it charges fine. But the roof button is still blinking red.

I was hoping that if I charge the battery back, the problem will go away (I will change the battery soon). Guess I will need to check the microswitch and sensor shown above.

Is the location of the microswitch at "rear end module" No.4 in the pictures shown previously? Hall Sensors, I'll see how many I can locate in there.

Thanks !

Fitted the 2 hall sensors today...bought from bmw..they were for 120i convertible..but fit the z4 e89 perfectly..they cost £12.55 each..
The z4 ones are £240.aprox each..you have to use the original connector.
I soldered them together..the most important thing is routing the wires correctly..so take pictures on yr phone first if needed. I did and used them for reference..also look out for where the cable ties are..put back in exactly the same place..as there are moving parts ..you don't want to get any wires caught..
Also replaced the microswitch..took me about 3hrs
Patience is needed..
Here are some pictures below
Hope it helps..

Snapon64, 3rd picture down, the other hall sensor with the black connector, i had a problem with that connector pulling apart giving problems. My cars connector seemed to be missing any means of it locking together. I ended up gluing it and cable tying in place.
Great find on the cheaper alternate.

Cheers mate
I cant take credit for finding the cheaper alternative. A link was sent to me by mole 734...
I basically followed the instructions on the link..
But just wanted to highlight it a bit more to members..as the difference in price is staggering...I am probably going to buy another 2 sensors and put them away till needed..why wouldn't u at this price..a bit of glue and a cable tie works just as good..
