E89 Roof half open and cannot close HELP!

Hey Guys

My Z4 has not been used for a while so I put a booster pack as the battery was flat

Manage to get it started and so I check roof operation and everything ok opening and closing a few times and then went to shut it one final time and the car just conked out (due to flat batt) and the roof is half open but when I start the car back up the roof will not shut and has the flashing LED

I am looking for a method to manually close it and I can not find any info relating to how to close it manually

Any pointers guys?? Many thanks

You saying you can't close it, have you tried opening first after you had a flat battery the second time round?
Sounds like it's lost its position so it will need to make its switches in the opening position before closing.

We had a Reno Megane Conv with the metal roof and that did the same with a 'not fully charged' battery.

It may be that the battery, although the car is running, it does not have enough power in it to close it.

If you can, leave it running for a while and let the battery regain it's charge and then try it.

It has been recovered to a BMW specialist now as it needs service and MOT anyhow

So I am prepared to foot with a substantial bill

Thanks for the pointers

Turns out the control module for the roof has died.

That's the thing that worries me about having a smart top module fitted - a fault might be in another place but be outside the warranty scope because of the module!
